2.
oh, I love this silly factoid "All Warwick-branded instruments are hand-crafted in Germany" he lifted... when the headstock is showing Made In USA...
Isn't the Alien made in Korea? - maybe lifted from an old ad before the Alien was launched?
3. What makes you so sure it's a solid state amplifier?
4. It could be a lot worse - it could be a Warwick Hang on though - aren't they made from old coffee tables anyway?
5.
Ooh I never thought about that, I'll look into earthing it soon (got a gig tonight so I don't want to be buggering about with the neck today). Will I have to isolate the springs from the shielding after earthing it seeing as they are connected directly to the poles? Did you notice a change in tone afterwards?
I didn't bother isolating the springs but I think i did check everything with a multimeter to find any shorts. There are others with better ears than me, but I didn't notice any change in tone - I could just hear the tone clearer because all the background noise disappeared.
6. £300 - £350 is about the right money for an original amp with no issues.
7. I did the same to mine, but I also put an earth connection to the copper shield. Works great
8.
So I could just wire two of these up in series?
Yes you can, but the difference in value between .05 and .047 is so small you'll never hear any difference - but if someone comes and checks your circuits with a capacitance tester you'll be very red-faced
9. I just noticed your sig - did this happen in the UK or "home" in Tripoli?
10. Glad to hear you're ok! If you're going to beat the crap out of your lead singer, don't use an expensive bass!
11.
Sadly the good youtube recording of the original ( by the waitresses) has disappeared ..
It's still there - just a different video.............
12.
anyone know of other units that can do this?
I believe the Stephen Hawking unit can do this - when he smokes enough crack cocaine coat -----> get -----> door
13. These? - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SENNHEISER-ME2-ME3-M...id=p3286.c0.m14 or these? - http://www.qables.com/shop/index.php?main_...products_id=644

Ian Parker gigs

To get this thread back on topic............... Go and see The Ian Parker Band!
15. It's been done with the 3 tenors - how about a band of bass players - The FOUGS - I'm sure several here would be well qualified (me included) -
16. Having heard Jo play through these cabs on several occasions, I can say they sound lush! Get in!
17. It's impossible to say who is "the best" unless you've seen them all. I suppose you could visit all the tribute band's websites to hear what they sound like. Some tributes go the whole hog - appearance & sound. I looked at Status Quo tributes recently and by far the best sounding were the band who didn't really try and sell themselves as "the best" and just went for a sound tribute. Still fun, depending on your beer intake for the evening
18. Where do you live? - sticking it in your profile is a good idea If you are very very lucky you'll be living near Steve - http://www.stevesamps.co.uk/ He will make your amp sing / cry / weep / scream / disembowel etc
19. In todays market, anything between £475 to £600. A Paul Turner fan might pay the upper amount or slightly more. I'd be very surprised if a PT fan would pay more than £700 for it. Hope this helps

Ian Parker gigs

Say no more! - I'll deffo be coming to see you and I'll be calling for bass solos! If anyone likes blues with a rich soulful feel, there are very few if any better artists in this country than Ian Parker.
21. He's a nice guy too. Very happy to answer my stupid questions/requests
22. I'm surprised your selling this as it's a lovely bass - a definite keeper! But if you want to buy a fat violin..........................
23. Just listening through them now. Ain't Nobody - Keys are behind the beat, as are the guitar(s) to a lesser extent, the first guitar being off more than the second. Mercy - tighter, but the keys are still a little off. Lady Marmalade - tighter still, didn't like the patches chosen by keyboard. Master Blaster - Tight, but didn't like the keyboard patches again Bass and drums locked together well on all the songs. Ham(Simon Cowell)ster
24. Black Pearl? Abalone? Another black pearl?
