1. I think you might find that a BLX-80 is an 80w conbo, and the BLX-130 is a 130w combo. But 160w?
  2. Go on then - appropriate button pressed

Hi, and welcome to the forums! We'll do our best to help you out in any way we can. You'll find a wealth of information either using the search function or looking on the site wiki. Hamster
What do you guys think of a desperate situation like this?
To be honest I'd set your sights a little lower and don't get into a big debt over it. You can find something just about as good - maybe even better for probably less than a third of its price, - http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=27918 Hamster
  8.
I know a lot of people on here swear by the high beams, but I prefered the Marcus Miller fat beams. I ordered them especially for my Marcus Miller Jazz & they felt just right - Softer feeling than the usual bright sounding strings & with a really full bodied, bright sound. Try some. I really liked them.
I use the Hi Beams on my 5 string Lakland and they're superb on that. I use the 5 string for different music than the Stingray which is for rock/blues, which is why I'm looking for a little less "zing" than the Hi Beams. Have you tried the Sunbeams at all?
  9. Yeah - a great day! Thanks so much to Nik & Martin for all the hard work. Kudos to Monz fer drivin' al't way from Baarnsley up't cobbled motorways Bernie Goodfellow's basses are just amazing! - far to good for a ten thumbed troll like me! Met lots of new faces behind the avatars and Joe White did a fantastic set-up on my new Stingray. It was way more than just a set-up, more like a full stripdown and complete service. Fell in love with some more Lakland's - I think they really are my fave out-of-the-box bass. Already looking forward to the Spring SE Bass Bash!
  10. I'm going to put a set of these on my Stingray, as I think they will both be a good match to the bass and the sound I like (typical Stingray) Both strings look really good, but what differences have users found - if any? I might well end up buying a set of both, and putting some on my Sub4 backup bass. Cheers Hamster
  11.
i think your chatting out your arse mate to be honest, £470 is never what a stingray is worth £350 is the right price for a bass like this.
Sorry to disagree, but you're also chatting out of your arse Kev! - A Stingray, or any other bass is worth exactly what people are willing to pay for it, not what the seller wants for it. But I agree, £350ish is about right - in my opinion, and if I wanted to buy it. I don't want this bass, so wouldn't even offer £100 for it. If I really wanted it, I might go higher than £350.
ernie ball/Status-graphite Musicman Stingray 5 'Blue Dawn', WITHDRAWN, like anything is gunna better this
Actually there are quite a few basses out there better than even a graphite necked SR5 - but I must admit this is a nice bass at a nice price, or at least it was, or is until the dreaded gas strikes again
  13. Stone cladding - a lot of people like it on their houses. It adds a touch of class and makes you think you live / play bass in the Cotswolds
  14.
Agreed on the double bass funny how when he's soloing they cut away to shots of everyone else in the band other than him!
I blame Bill Wyman - the industry has never recovered from his on-stage charisma. ALL cameramen now avoid bass players like the plague.

  25.
Hey, Firstly, sorry for starting my own thread to talk about this, i have used the search function and looked through numerous threads, but i have a few direct questions i was hoping someone could answer. I run quite a hot signal with a plethora of overdrive/fuzz units usually turned on and so i am looking for a compressor, preferably in stomp box form, to help even out my signal and prevent my amp (or someone else's amp perhaps more importantly) from being blown. And so which Compressor would you suggest i purchase? I've read good things about the Aphex Punch Factory, the EBS and the BBE Opto Stomp all which seem within my price range of £100. It is important that i buy a durable pedal and i do want it to be transparent when turned on. Hence why i am willing to spend the extra as it seems that the Aphex may not be too road hardy. Thanks for your help, Rich
I've tried all three of these. IMHO the BBE and EBS are better than the Aphex in virtualy all areas. There really isn't much difference between the EBS and the BBE, except the price. The Demeter Compulator appears to be the high bar, but I've never used/heard one.
