1. Hi Astar - welcome to the forums! Hamster
2.
Allparts sell them, but they seem to have revamped their site and it's all over the place at the moment. http://www.allparts.uk.com/index.php?p=sho...h=0_277_1_25_31 They're there in the list, but when you click on them, it's 404 time
£40.90 + p&p! It would be cheaper to buy a complete bridge from the US. Hamster
3. So many nice desirable basses - so little money Hamster
4. I bought an SX - ordered on the Monday afternoon, it arrived Thursday morning. Not bad quality at all. The neck is stained a little bit too much making the wood appear sort of orangy and the colour match isn't quite spot on, so you might get a Chinese interpretation of LPB. I've nearly finished pimping it Hamster
5. Glad to see your winter hibernation has ended See you on 22nd at the 100 Club then Hamster
6.
They claim the power board was replaced! If it was, they replaced it with another faulty power board!
When I spoke with Ashdown - last July?, they seemed a bit resigned to the fact that they couldn't fix them without putting into production a whole new run of boards. Seeing as how that amp was being phased out I don't think they bothered. They did arrange to have it UPS collected from my door to get to them but it came back with the same fault. Soundcontrol didn't haggle with giving me a full refund. Hamster
7.
Well, last Friday I took a half day off work and collected my poorly superfly after it was "repaired" for the squealing some of them are afflicted with. It was sent back to Ashdown for repair. Get it home, hook it up, switch it on... Guess what, it's still screaming like a banshee. Absolutely no improvement or indeed any change at all! So half a day off work and £50 repair bill for nothing! Needless to say I was feeling very disillusioned this weekend... Still waiting for the shop to reply to my disappointed email...
This is a well known problem caused by a bad batch of faulty power boards. I doubt very much if Ashdown have any replacement boards as the amps are all made in China. You could give them another try and ask them exactly how they intend to repair it, otherwise you might be best off getting a full refund (which is what I did) Shame, because when they work they're not bad at all. 8. IIRC the EMG pickups don't put out a huge signal. Maybe try a smaller value cap on the tone pot? Hamster
9. Hi Julien - Welcome! Hamster

14.
Hi All! Hopefully a staight forward question. Are there any pitfalls or problems I should watch out for in replacing the neck in a Precision with a Jazz neck? Also any suggestions as to where to get a replacement neck from? I'm looking for a maple fret board.
Need a little more info here Is it a Fender body, and do you want to replace the neck with a Fender neck, or a Fender copy neck? Hamster
15. Nice bass - however you missed the opportunity to take the photo whilst naked Hamster
16. I agree with what you say, but I don't think it's an attitude exclusive to bass players. Many musicians qualities and talents aren't even 'discovered' until after they're dead. Hamster
17. Hi - enjoy the forums! Hamster
18.
The government are going to ban 6 string basses? Quiet right too, although i thought only conservative governments were against people getting ideas above thier station
I think you can de-activate 6 stringers by chopping the E and G strings up and then cutting 2 long deep grooves the length of the neck under where the strings were. Hamster
19. A 5 all the way Hamster
20. Ouch! - you gonna try the Jamerson method for a while then? Hamster
21. I'd go for ziricote - I think it would look cool with a red finish bass. Hamster
