9.
I too have 1 5-string bass and thinking of going for a 6-string. Actually, what I was really trying to ask/consider is; if you're a bass player who plays in a band and never picks up a bass from one Saturday night gig to the next, then only having a single bass is no problem. If you play every night, the idea of being happy with a single 4 string bass could be a little more challenging? With more strings comes a greater challenge and probably the variety of the places one can play on the neck make it more varied?
I was a bit nervous at first about jumping to a six but it's actually been fine and a lot easier than I anticipated to be honest. Needlessly worrying I was. Having said that, getting rid of everything but the six obviously left me with no choice but to play it!
  10.
I too am down to single figures, and I play them all regularly. I like the idea of having that one, single bass that does everything. The problem I have is finding a fretted bass with frets that drop to make it fretless. Please, will someone PM me when you see one. Question to those who have 1 bass: do you practice every night? Do you play solo, or just in a band? I ask because if you play solo every night/day, I think you too would find one bass a bit monotonous.
I always used Fender Jazz Basses and have had loads and loads and loads of them over years. I had 9 of them at one point. But after meeting Ambient and reflecting on it for a good year, I started down the extended range root. Now I only have one 6-string bass! It's a beauty and I'm not finding it boring or monotonous... not yet anyway.

    Snarky Puppy

Saw Snarky Puppy at the Ligthouse in Poole last night - damn they were good - and the support was brilliant too - a band called House of Waters with Moto Fukushima playing electric bass - just amazing.
  12. Yes, I've just recently gone down to one bass. I've always had 3 or more before now but I'm super happy at the moment!
  13. I'd personally recommend going for a MacBook. And if the cost is something to consider, the items for sale section here often has them crop up.
  14.
In your third picture it looks like there's a mark across the back which isn't visible in your fourth pic. Is this just a reflection? Thanks
Hi - it's not a mark. It's a mixture of my rubbish photography skills and a reflection from a glass door.
  15. Awesome bass mate. Tom Jenkinson/Squarepusher using his with Shoebaleader One. I love this video. https://www.youtube....h?v=VypU8zojFsY
  16. Here is my 2013 American Standard Fender Jazz Bass. Three colour sunburst on a really nice wood grain body and a very dark rosewood fingerboard. It really is a fabulous bass - I tested maybe 20 US Standards to find this one. I sold it before and bought it back but I'm only playing 6-string nowadays so it's now finally time... My home scales says the bass weighs in at approximately 8.5 pounds. I'm based in Bournemouth, Dorset. Local pickup preferred but I am prepared to ship it within the UK/EU at the buyers expense. It comes with a case but not the original one. If you have any questions, etc. fire away.
