Prices seems nuts at the moment. All at around the £10k to £12k mark!

Great deal and really great guy. Superb communication throughout, thanks Jordi.

I recently bought a Fodera from Bass Direct. I was happy with the service from the guys. It's obviously a good bass but the set up on it was truly shocking. I mean it was completely unplayable. This isn't a personal taste thing either - it was shocking - fret buzz all over the place where the truss rod was too curved. I got £100 off the price and then had to spend that money on a set up anyway. I can do set up tweaks but it was so out of whack I had to get a professional to look at it. For £4400 I'd expect a bit better to be honest.

I could be wrong and I know I sound very cynical but I reckon if you contacted these people in two years time, nothing came of these adverts. -

I don't know of course but I'd bet a significant number of them don't have a blast because there are very few brilliant players aged 18-21 with own transport, etc. prepared to follow up on these "awesome opportunities". -

If you mean the American stuff then I think they have. I've played Fenders since I started playing in '96 - my 2013 American Standard Jazz 4 and 2014 American Deluxe Jazz 5 are both superb instruments. Having said that I still don't think Fender are by any means perfect because I still had to go through several of the same models basses before actually buying these because they were noticeably different to one another.
-
I've had three over the years (a 70s 4001 and two 4003s) because I love the sound and look of them but I've always sold them because I find them uncomfortable to play so I'd definitely concur that you go play a few.

I went into Sainsburys about a year ago to complain about something. The customer services lady said she couldn't help and there was nothing they could do. So I asked her what the next level of escalation was. She said the checkout lead so I asked her to get that person to see me. I spoke with this bloke and he said the same as the customer service lady so I asked the same question again - what is the next level of escalation. It was the duty manager. Ok, I'd like to see him please. The exact same thing happened again so I escalated again until the store manager came down (this is about an hour later from when I first walked in. Anyway, the store manger gave me a full refund! Another tip is to try to find a company director(s) email address on Google and contact them. I did that for a car parking ticket and it worked. Now with all these types of things I just keep completely calm and continue through the escalation process.
I don't disagree with that at all, but that's a completely different discussion - its about whether there is a difference between a legit Fender and a copy, which isn't the point of this thread - I was trying to figure out a way to end up with a legit, genuine Fender made from genuine parts, which, if you want to go the 'legit' route, will end up costing you just as much if you build from parts, not to mention resale value. But the 'my bass sounds just as good as any Fender' is not the point here. You and I and everyone else here knows how nice it is to crack open a brand new Fender (or any) bass, if you're talking about treating yourself, it's a lot nicer than cobbling together random parts from Norwich. Now I'm not saying there's no beauty to cobbling stuff together from parts, my favorite P is a USA Fender with a dodgy knockoff body (not even a good one), and various other parts, and it's a great bass, I play it daily. Not a proper Fender though. Ultimately a USA Fender is the real deal, and everything else is just a knockoff, no matter how nice it is. Sadowsky, Marusczyk, that LaBella Olinto bass, they're all just knockoffs, even if they surpass the real thing in many ways.
Couldn't agree more.

I'd like this.

I think I'm not seeing something? When I select a jazz bass, all I see is the choice of four necks but they're all jazz necks? Maple and rosewood American standard and maple and rosewood American special necks. I can't see the p bass neck with a jazz bass body option?
If you want a legit USA Fender with non-standard options, like a P with a J neck, for example, I think this is still your best bet. I like USA Fenders so i like this, I don't mind the limitations. I'm going to be after a USA Fender with a J neck one of these days, and I will go down this route if there's nothing better available at the time. Building your own using parts from eBay may work out cheaper. (but it's also a crapshoot) It is probably a bit overpriced but so is everything with a bit of brand value, there are many cheaper alternatives out there if you're not bothered about the brand. If it's a keep-forever bass, why not?
That's the thing though, you can't select a P with J neck using this service. It's not that flexible.
Oohhh! Are you doing labels as well?
You can have white blank labels stuck to the record or an A4 sheet to print/stick yourself.

It's so cool - hard to get used to technically but it's really great to have this thing - it's taken 2 years to get here. I recently launched this site - uppercutvinyl.com.

I recently acquired a vinyl cutting lathe. Takes a bit of getting used to but loving it so far.
Ugh, they always turn up when I don't have the spare money. I have the maple/black model and its by far my favourite 5 string I've ever played.
I'm really hoping my '72 sells first to be honest so I can take this down. The B on this is the best I've had on a Fender.
