Does the active circuitry require a 9V battery (i don´t see a battery clip), and does it fit under the pots?

    Thanks and GLWTS!

And I thought mine was battered... Has wiring been replaced?
The guy I bought it from told me it was hanging up in a Spanish bar for years. To be honest, as far as the wiring is concerned I really don't know but I reckon it's safer to assume it probably has been replaced.

Here is my 1972 Fender Jazz Bass. It is pretty light weighing in at 8 lb 6 oz according to my home scales. Original Sunburst finish over and Alder body which has loads of play wear and dings. Maple neck with a Rosewood fingerboard. The neck has a 7.25" radius with a thin C profile. It's a lovely player with a nice even sound right across the fingerboard, very slim and straight neck, recently professionally refretted by Absolute Music in Poole, tortoise guard. All original with the exception of pickups and pots - it's got Di Marzio active pickups and active pots installed (see photos).

There's a lot of play wear to the finish front and back with heavy scuffs and dings around the edges of the body and buckle rash on the back. The headstock also has a scuffs around the edges. The hardware and electronics are in good working order.

I don't have the original pickups or pots but thankfully no additional screws, cavities or modifications have been made to the bass so if you wanted to you could go on eBay or suchlike and buy some original '72 pickups/pots. I considered doing this myself but it sounds superb as it is and while buying these pickups/pots would make it an original '72, it would cost money and I don't think the bass would sound as good as it does now so I decided to leave it as is.

The control panel is standard Jazz Bass Volume/Volume/Tone. The Tone knob can be pulled out to switch between active and passive circuitry (see photos).

Badass II fitted but I do have the original bridge (see photos) which will be included.

I had it professionally setup with a very low action by Absolute Music in Poole.

I'm based in Bournemouth, Dorset and I'd really prefer someone to pick this bass up but I will ship if necessary.

That's everything I can think of but If you have any questions whatsoever, please let me know.

I don't love Jazz basses, except the '73 I tried that a friend owns. Several things I shouldn't like about it (sunburst, block inlays, bound neck, and, er, it's a Jazz), but it sounds great.

So yes, I do accept that a Jazz can be good.

Kind of like this bad boy?

No photos until a replacement pickguard arrives... tort is only acceptable on sunburst

I've come to realize I am as much a collector / trader of bass gear as I am a bass player... I get just as much enjoyment out of changing my gear around / trying new stuff as I do from playing in bands :)
I tend to agree with the pickguard.

I asked Fender and Absolute Music about getting a tort pick guard for my 2014 US Deluxe 5 string and was quoted over £100... for a piece of plastic! I'll be sticking with the stock black one!

  7.
ah there's no need to justify it :)

I just bought that White MIJ 66 from the marketplace and I definitely didn't need it  ... wanted it though!
Errrhhhh I need photos!!!!!! All my Jazz Basses are sunburst but I really want an OW one now!

  8.
Presumably not in the 64 :o
That is the one I'd go for first ;)

Actually the '72 has non-original pickups in it - maybe that'll be the one to experiment on. I obviously don't need four Jazz Basses but the '13 is the absolute best US Standard I've ever played and the 5-string Deluxe is brilliant too - I got super, super lucky with that bass - the B string on Fenders are pretty much always crap in my opinion but this one is superb... rather ironically it's strung EADGC!

But doesn't the hum from the pickups under certain lights drive you nuts!
I typically have the pickups 0% or 100% but I know what you mean. I've been thinking about maybe trying a set of these Aguilar hum cancelling pickups out.

I'm all cool with you loving jazz basses, but if you start soloing using the bridge pickup and your fingers next to the bridge to get the "quacky duck" sound then get out and take your flat cap with you. J/K

    Well, half j/k.

With the tone rolled all the way too...
