I currently record direct into my Scarlet 2i2 but I want to incorporate my cab too. Any of you folks got some strong recommendations when it comes to choosing a microphone?

Lovely Precision. Original guard?

Not associated with the seller but this will set you back about £100ish more than a new Mexican. Looks awesome - perfect colour combo as well in my opinion.

I think this would have sold if it wasn't December. Amazing price!

I'm not associated with the seller but this seems to be a bargain at £575.

I'd have one if given to me
But I've owned two myself and wouldn't bother again. They look awesome though - I wish I could get along with them. -
Go try a few dude and don't worry about what anyone else says or thinks. If you find one you like, go for it!

I have the hum cancelling ones in my 2013 US Standard Jazz Bass and like them a lot myself. There are a lot of pretty good reviews online about them. I'm not all that aware of many negative things people might have said about them.

The Focusrite 2i2 is less than £100 from Thomann, has 2 inputs and comes with Ableton Live 9 basic.
There's very little latency and the mic pre-amps are of excellent quality...

I've got one of these. Plug and play largely.
You could download Audacity free for recording too - it's pretty easy to use in my opinion and there are loads of tutorials on YouTube available. -
I'm sure I'm being super stupid here but I don't understand the '78 serial number and the '83 neck stamp?
'78 necks had block inlays too?
Is this a special edition or something? -
Wow - this is nice!!

I know you said must be brand new but there are always Americant Standard Fender Jazz Basses on here in as new condition available.
-
Please post photos if you do get it. I'm thinking about maybe getting an olympic white American Standard 5 with rosewood fingerboard.
-
Yes, as a few have said I wonder what is happening to the necks. Is it temperature/storage related perhaps?
-
Is it an American Standard or American Deluxe?
In my opinion:
400 for either is a steal (assuming it's not actually damaged/broken, etc.)
600-900 for an American Standard is a fair scale and very competitive price for an American Deluxe.
Depends on a few variables of course - and colour too - sunburst tends to be a little more expensive from what I've seen myself. -
...mmmmm a 60s P-bass... How about a pre-CBS?
-
I agree totally.
You pretty much cut out variances of the basses by buying high-end.
My current 2013 US Standard Jazz Bass is superb but the store I bought it from had 4 of the same model in stock - they just had different fingeboard/finish combinations - the difference in playability was crazy though - unacceptable actually - 3 were very average or rubbish and only 1 was good. -
Yes, I've pretty much arrived at the same conclusion. Been through a lot of basses over the last 20 years and always end up back with passive jazz basses. I don't fight it anymore
-
Wow - what an incredible looking bass!! Just beautiful.
-
I'm really surprised that this hasn't sold for this price. Mind you, I'm totally skint myself at the moment and I'm guessing there are a lot of people in the same boat!
-
Incredible basses. I love mine. Congratulations.

...and a Ken Smith Black Tiger VI.
-
I fancy a Fodera.

I bought a Aguilar Tone Hammer DI pedal from Lozz. Absolute pleasure to deal with and very quick shipping.

Find a good playing jazz bass, install a good pre-amp, a decent set of pick-ups and you're there really. So much of the sound is in people's fingers anyway.
