1.
What annoys me is that they could make it, it'd just take up to 3 years to get it in your hands! I don't know about you, but my GAS may not survive that long period!
They did a Steve Baily 6er a few years ago. Thing is, I don't like signature instruments.
2.
I reckon Fender must have looked into doing a proper sixer and decided it's not worthwhile... I'd imagine that six strings are a very small percentage of the bass market. Personally I think a six-string jazz deluxe would be a reasonable seller.
I'd buy it!
3.
Something these lines would have me interested...
Yeah, and call me shallow, but I really want Fender on the headstock. A 34-inch scale, US Standard passive 6-string Fender Jazz Bass is exactly what I'd like
4. I don't think it is myself. I think it's a real shame Fender don't really open up the custom shop to offer 6-string options, etc. I'd love a 6-string US Standard Fender Jazz Bass.
5. Wow - a beautiful looking bass.
6. ...I'm really jealous! I NEED one of these again. And I use a Sansamp with my 4 string Jazz. Just when you need an extra something.
7.
Totally agree. Keep it passive as that's what these basses do best. Once you add a preamp I think things change, they get complicated and you lose some of the basic charm a plug in and forget bass does so well. I've noticed that when I play my jazz I hardly touch the knobs, but with my Yamaha I'm tweaking quite a bit during gigs. Maybe that's just me but I've always been like that. As much as my old P-retro could produce so much I felt it ruined the simplicity of my P bass. I recently got a Darkglass VMTD pedal over getting a preamp put in my Jazz, and what a difference that makes. Warms everything up just nicely.
Again couldn't agree more.
8.
It will be in the classifieds by the end of the month and he will be looking for something better......it's the basschat way ;-).
+1 here
9. Yes, congratulations!!!!!! Beautiful, beautiful bass - I'm really pleased for you and a bit jealous too.
10.
It does look good though... without the signature and association I'd be interested.
Yeah, personally I'd never buy a signature bass.
11.
I wish this was in stock at my store to try, and the Deluxe version is still pre order only http://www.guitargui...=12031010420658
Yeah, that's what I had...just in sunburst. Damn, I loved it.
12. I've played Jazz Basses from the very start of my playing time - 18 years ago. I tried a Precision about a year ago and didn't like it to be honest. I think it was due to the fact that I play finger style with my thumb resting on the bridge pickup which I have wide open while the neck pickup is turned off. Having said all this, like others have said, definitely go and try some out. You might love them.
13. The 2011 5-string US Standard Fender Jazz Bass in sunburst with rosewood was one of the few basses I've had and sold that I wish I'd kept now. I loved it.
14. Anybody got a Limelight that's not been aged?
15. Amazing bass. Great price too.
16. I've had both of these... American Deluxe Jazz Bass V - http://www.fender.co...-bwb-pickguard/ American Standard Jazz Bass V - http://www.fender.co...color-sunburst/ Moved them both on - this is so subjective of course. Personally, I liked the Standard a lot more than the Deluxe and, actually, it's one of the few basses I wish I hadn't sold. I'd go out and try as many as possible mate... you've got me thinking now though - I want another Jazz V. And I'm 100% sure that there are far superior Jazz Basses out there but personally speaking, and I know I'm very blinkered here, I love and want the Fender decal on the headstuck.
17. I've bought the 60's, 70's and hum cancelling Aguilar Jazz replacement pickups. I thought they were all pretty good but I stuck with the 60's ones i the end and sold the others. I'd like to try their new 'hot' pickups though - they look pretty cool. And to repeat what TheSiberian said, the Fender Jazz Custom Shop pickups are fantastic. Really fantastic.
18. Nothing helpful here I'm afraid - but I would say that I went through a similar thing for about fifteen years - changing basses, modding them, selling them, repeating the process, etc. - now I just enjoy my basses as they are and try not to worry about it so much.
19. Sold my Fender Jazz Bass to Nick this morning. Great guy to deal with, very prompt payment. A lovely gent all round.
20. Great and smooth transaction. Enjoy the Jazz Bass. Cheers.
21. Can you post photographs?
22. Beautiful bass. Good luck with the sale.
23. I think that tortoise shell looks awesome on black.
24. I've been in the same boat and I've bought and sold loads of basses over the years - all the major brands as well as custom stuff - now I’ve whittled my collection down to two basses, a '64 Jazz Bass and a '78 Jazz Bass. To be honest, if it wasn't for the fact that the '78 has a lot of personal value to me, I'd quite happily stick with just the '64... mind you, I do have a hankering for a 6-string right now...
