I've just read back through this thread looking for the train wreck ( so I can make it worse, obviously...) and I can't find one. Were there no survivors? Anyhow, my take on all this would be that , regarding relicked instruments ect, it is a ridiculous trend, but at the same time I can totally understand why people are attracted to them. So much of what we all aspire to in life is ridiculous, so why should bass guitars be exempt from that? The underlying fact is that when we buy consumer items, basses included, we are very often making choices which are based on our ideas about ourselves, and those choices are designed to reinforce and those ideas and to turn them into something tangible so we have got some physical evidence that they are real. In a culture obsessed with nostalgia and the quest for the authentic, it's not surprising that wear and tear are now being faked in order to create inauthentic authenticity. Not to do so would be an opportunity missed.
+1
A precision bass, in tort and sunburst, it can do everything - although possibly not your ironing
This...except I'd go Jazz.

I can't wait for this. I really hope it's effective with electric bass.

Anybody got a date?
Take a regular 5-string or 6-string, 34-inch scale bass. Lower the tuning one-half step from conventional to Bb-Eb-Ab-Db-Gb. Then capo the 1st fret. Then you will see how the bass will feel, sound and react on the strings at the shorter 32-inch scale. I didn't like it: too floppy and indistinct. Going up in gauge of string to compensate only made the B string thump worse. YMMV
I'm with you. I had a 33-inch scale ACG 5-string and felt that the B was too floppy. I've now got a 34-inch scale ACG 5-string and it's fine.

I guess even if it's not as effective, you could play in the higher register, 12th fret onwards right.

Anyone know a release date? I checked the web site and might have missed it but couldn't see a date.

Anyone know what all the switches do?

I use three DD-6s, three DD-7s and a RC-30. I love layering stuff up... And plus 1 for a synth pedal.

I wonder what the balance will be like? That's the only thing I'd really be a little concerned about looking at it.

Depends on the budget for me. Generally I'd always want to play a bass before buying it but if I had £500 plus, I'd hunt around here and eBay for a US Precision because I think they're awesome - the ultimate. Plus I've had quite a few US Precisions over the years and have never had a bad one. If I had less than £500 and couldn't stretch to a US Precision then I'd 100% want to play it before buying.

Lovely bass - congrats. I'm sure you'll get your money back if you decode to move it on. They're so desirable. By the way, I notice you have a Fender FSR hand stained ash - is it a J or a P?

Hi all, Custom ACG Finn Single Cut R Type 5 String (number 0059) Unexpectedly available again following a fallen through sale. I only just bought this bass myself and have been hankering for an ACG for quite sometime. So why am I moving it on so quickly? I flip basses/amps on a regular basis due to excessive GAS, that ACG itch has now been scratched and while it's a great instument, I've been playing Fenders for 20 plus years and as the original seller stated there are just a few too many knobs/switches/electronics on this particular model for me. The price includes the bass and fully insured shipping within the UK. Here is the bass on the official ACG web site: http://www.acguitars...-type-5-string/ Here is a link to the original basschat.co.uk advert posted by dodge_bass - http://basschat.co.u...__fromsearch__1 I've got no feedback here so I've included a link to my eBay feedback - http://feedback.ebay...tab=AllFeedback Spec Level: Custom

First Finn single cut with a Recurve lower horn.
