1. Not meaning to be rude mate but someone here sold an original finish '72 Jazz for that amount.
2. I've owned an all original '64 Jazz Bass for about fifteen years and regardless of the value I'd never sell it because of my love for it. Having said that I don't gig it anymore because I don't want to risk it being stolen and I don't record with it because my 2010 American Deluxe Jazz Bass has so much more range.
3.
Sounds like my situation too. I'm looking to begin tutoring and I'm thinking that using the grades would be a good way to go. When I started I went straight in at Grade 4 but I think that the way the books work is that they take you from the ground up, so would be useful for absolute beginners.
Exactly, while I'm not a beginner myself I think I'll be able to better relate to what my students are embarking on if I've done all of the grades myself.
4. I spoke to a guy who skipped grades 2 and 4 and regretted not doing them. I'll talk to my tutor again - I plan on becoming a tutor so my intention is to complete all of the courses so that I have firsthand experience of them myself.
5. Superb - Trinity it is gentlemen. Thanks for the input. My tutor has said he'd be happy to start me at grade 3 but I think I'm leaning towards starting from the beginning so I've got no gaps anywhere. Trinity Grade 8 has Havona too
6. Cheers mate. I'm an OK player but I need the theory because I want to tutor people myself one day. I think I'm leaning towards Trinity after doing more research.
7. The band I was with since 2008 broke up at the beginning of the year so I've had quite a lot of time away from playing. I met up with a couple of bands in the summer and all of them had specific bass lines that they wanted me to play which is fair enough but not at all what I'm prepared to do unless I'm doing covers and being paid. I've since decided not to bother with another band right now and I've chosen instead to study bass grades.
8. We only had keyboards. And all anyone ever played was Axel F.
9.
+1 This happens to me all the time, especially when using floating thumb
And another
10. I've been playing in bands for eighteen years but had my first bass/theory lesson last night and it really hit home how little I actually know. I did a bit of internet research and both seem to be well thought of but has anybody here done Rockschool or Trinity College bass grades? Better still, has anyone got firsthand experience of both? I'd really appreciate your opinions.
11. I was googling Jaco yesterday, got sidetracked onto his nephew David and then stumbled across the Artisan Bass Works site. Has anybody seen or even played one these basses? Quite strange looking but I bet they sit quite nicely. http://artisanbassworks.com/artists
12. I used to have one of these - they're great pedals and this is a pretty great price too: http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/Electro-Harmonix-Little-Big-Muff-Pi-Pedal/EWW?origin=product-ads&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_term=&utm_campaign=PLA+Electro-Harmonix&utm_content=5cnuRSqv|dc_pcrid_34026996439_plid__kword__match__
13. Is it one of these? http://www.fender.com/basses/jazz-bass/american-deluxe-jazz-bass-rosewood-fingerboard-3-color-sunburst-3-ply-bwb-pickguard/
14. An amazing, amazing bass. I use one of these as my standard now. If I had the funds I'd definitely get a second one.
15. The Electro-Harmonix pedals are awesome.
16. Can't believe this hasn't sold. If only I had the cash spare.

18. The Bass of Doom. The real one that I believe is currently in Robert Trujillo's ownership.
19. Cheers gents. Very much appreciated.
20. Very nice Clarky. Is there anyway of verifying that the finish is 100% original?
21. Hello all, Long time on and off lurker but I've only just gotten round to actually registering today. I'm 34 and I've been playing bass in various bands for about 18 years now. Before now I've never been all that interested in tuition and have focussed on learning songs and playing by ear but I recently bought the Trinity Initial Bass book and I intend to work through as many exams as I can. With a lot of hard work, I plan to see this all the way through hopefully getting to grade 8. That's the objective anyway. I'll be keeping my eyes peeled for a sunburst Marcus Miller 4-string to pop up on the classifieds too. Cheers, -Adam
