1.
Great choice ! I have a transcription for that somewhere, I'll post it up if I can locate it.
That would be greatly appreciated!
2. Dissimilar but when I use a six string I constantly get people "Totally pointless, you don't need all those notes" To be honest I rarely use the higher notes you gain from the C string, I more often use it for ease and not having to jump up the fretboard.. Definitely true about falling into the trap of using B - Eb more often though.. I think it's just from usually playing the E as a top string and generally rooting around that position for E-Ab usually..
3. I can get four octaves in B or C out of my Cort. Six Strings and 24 frets.. Delightfully Unneccesary
4. Ah this is the transcription I have aswell. Thanks for the ammo!
5. Pino + Chris Dave on the Jose James track Trouble.. Filth. And the Live D'Angelo stuff with Chris Dave or Questlove. Groove City..
6. That'd be amazing man thanks. I'm currently looking for some Anthony Jackson stuff. Considering doing From Within as my exam piece for my Uni course.. Studying Latin so I've been hooked on Michel Camilo at the moment!
7. Recently acquired a six string and need to get use to playing it.. Can anyone think of any pieces which utilise these additional strings .. Solo pieces or just general songs would be great! Any with trancriptions would be even better.. Cheers!
8. It's the Latin Real book I'm looking for, I've got a copy of the normal real book in bass clef lying around somewhere..
9. Just found this: http://www.amazon.com/The-Latin-Real-Easy-Book/dp/1883217709 Its not the official latin Real book but it is in bass clef.. Anybody own this or seen it? Publisher is Sher Music Co
10. Ah yeah I don't think they do a bass clef version :/ Thanks guys!
11. I'm purchasing the Latin Real Book however I can see it is available in multiple keys.. C, Bb and Eb.. A recommendations on which to purchase?
12. I did find it helpful indeed thanks! I've been hunting out some Michel Camilo transcriptions for his trio stuff with Anthony Jackson.. I'm using From Within as an exam piece..
13. I use my 2x10 Mark Combo for everything and I love it.. Though the best sound I've had was with the Little Mark head running through an 8x10 Ampeg stack cab.. Eargasm.
14. I think budget is going to be my main issue.. I'm kind of only looking to spend up to £400. I played pretty much nothing but my Stingray for three years and really enjoyed the wide neck.. Though now I've been playing my new jazz mainly for the last month or so I am warming to the thinner neck.. Though the string spcing on a Jazz is kind of the closest I'd want, anything tighter and I'm a fumbling mess..
15. Yeah I'll be using the octave up, or intend to anyway!
16. She's a beaut. The string spacing looks really comfortable too..
17. I've been toying with the idea of a six string for a while now and I've finally given in.. I'll be looking into purchasing early into the new year so looking for recommendations more than anything.. This is the cheapest 'well reviewed' one I could find.. Does anybody have any experience in the ESP model? http://www.gak.co.uk/en/esp-ltd-b-206-sm-ns-natural-satin/21478 They're retailing at £391 with GAK, is this the price I can expect to pay for an adequate six string? I go through a Mark Bass combo which has been pretty forgiving with lower-priced instruments so I'm hoping what I lack in guitar quality will be made up for in AMP.... ha Cheers guys
18. WHERE THE HELL CAN I FIND ONE That is all.
19. I'm gonna ask my lecturer to scan a few pages for me if he's game.. Even the e-book version is like £25.. Yeah I've love to have seen him talk about the matter, but I'd need a few sessions with the book first or I'd be baffled throughout..
20. Played on the Verda boat in Shoreham Friday with my Latin/funk band and it was absolutely rammed.. Our support was a Folk band who read Shakespearean Sonnets and a french magician in a Corset.. Peculiar.
21. Ah my lecturer was discussing this book with us. It sounds like an amazing read but the cheapest I can find it is for £99.. Knowledge is valuable I guess..
22.
It might be worth having a look at the 1950s work of George Russell for examples of Modal Jazz. Bill Evans was a member of his group before he played with Miles who gave Evans a lot of credit for what he brought to the band.
Ah excellent.. I'm pretty sure I can use Milestones as an example of the roots even if it's not the first song that did use it. But I know I'll have a stronger piece if I can really break down where it came from.
23. I have to do an essay for Uni about a pre 1970 track that has heavy influenced music of its own type and others. I'm thinking of doing Milestones by Miles Davis as the starting ground for Modal Jazz.. Would I be correct in saying it was the first Modal Jazz tune? I've tried doing some research and can't find another track credited before Milestones as the first Modal Jazz track so I'm assuming it was.. Also any insight into the track/sessions/album or general history would be greatly appreciated. References optional Thanks!
