Saw Tori Amos at Manchester O2 Apollo last Tuesday - yes, not 'next' - and she was brilliant....!
Had to drive 240 miles to see the gig, mind...
And the bass player was very good...

Tori Amos in Manchester first week of March - on a Tuesday. Anyone know much about the O2 Apollo...?

At 46 I can’t say I am a spring chicken anymore (nor over the hill), but I still actively look for new music/bands/musicians to get into.
So I was rather amazed to find that my band mates, all a few years my jr, all said they did not do the same and that they in essence felt that hardly any music that was worth their while is being made today. It certainly takes more effort to wade through the muck, but there is still good stuff being made by young guns.
Makes me wonder what my BC community thinks. Are you still open to “new”?
I don't think a lot has changed regarding how 'poor' new music is since I was a kid in the 70's. Basically, people who were my present age then were saying what a lot of people my age now are saying these days...
Or something like that...

I know its old, but ive not seen this one before.
What a great ‘rock’ voice. Never noticed she could do this before. She even appreciates the bass player 😁
Turning up for rehearsals in just yer knickers is a bit gimmicky, really...

I want to start trying string bending, for no reason other than I think it will be interesting.
Apart from advanced stuff like Primus, can anyone recommend a track or player I should look at for starters...?

Interesting comment... I got my first acoustic bass exactly because I thought it would be quieter than an electric, and less likely to be overheard by housemates. But I found (and it's also true of the two much better ones I have now) that to get a decent tone they have to be played hard, and are actually louder than an electric on lowest volume (let alone with headphones, which personally I can't get on with).
I do quite often take one round to play with people who don't have a spare amp. I also love the physical feeling of those big light thin resonant bodies - I would play mine just because it feels good, if for no other reason.
I found mine to be spot on for what I needed. Also, I do use headphones sometimes...

I use a G4M electro-acoustic which I bought used from a percussionist mate. The main reason for actually wanting one is that I live in a flat and can use it for practice late evening and not upset the neighbours. That said, it has come in useful when rehearsing in peoples houses rather than a studio.
Seems to knacker the P3 batteries pretty quickly...

Thanks for the link, Blue.
Just wasted / invested half the evening watching...!
If only we had gigs like that now.... -
All the while I find you all interesting, fun, useful and enlightening, l think I'll stay...

Not sure the punters are going out in any numbers, though...

Played an open mic night at Winston's café, Greenwich, last night.
Tiny - very tiny - place, and not many people there, but we played really well, IMHO, so all good... -
I was told by a guitarist last night that I sounded solid in the studio. Which was nice...
He has been playing since the 60's and I have been trying to learn for just over three years, so he must know something I don't... -
Hercules every time for me...

Bad Spaniel has to be one of the best band names ever...
