1. Cool. Been learning - trying to learn - that myself. Good luck tonight.
2. Dingus - "I like watching Antiques Roadshow, I think that most kids nowadays need a clip round the ear and I'm worried about house prices, and the height of my strap reflects that." Proper funny! If you can't resch to play, that's not cool at all kids...
3. Surely it was one of your most lucrative nights?
4. Quote "No probs using Firefox" </Backspace then unquote> Or something...
5. I was just about to say Moving Pictures, then someone typed Scorpions. Hmmm... To hard to split.
6. No probs - happy to help.
7. I love all that Oysterband, FC, Trad music myself. Looking to start learning some Dave pegg style basslines, although it's not easy to find tabs in my experience.
8. Drop it off round mine...
9. Hmmm, philosophy is always a fine pastime. They do look like [they are?] spoiled juvenile yobs these days, but did it with purity back in the day. Well, possibly. Performance artists, even WOW, are simply performing, using cheap copies, for publicity and not art. Also possible. They all get my goat up because I have a natural tendancy to look after my bass, bike, bat, etc. Certainly true. The thieves who took a brand new Fender bass during the riots in Croydon and used it to smash into the Off Licence further down the road really do upset me. Them and all the other bad stuff previously mentioned.
10. Thanks Mog - the old lady downstairs does'nt complain when the dial is below 5... RhysP - good point. I might go for both options if I feel flush enough.
11. Wotcher! Just seen Lizzy on the Telly - from '78 - good stuff.
12. Thanks all, top advice. I'll have a mooch about on that basis and sort one out in the New Year. John.
13. So, thinking of an acoustic bass as I live in a flat and have neighbours below. Plus, I just quite fancy one. Are Tanglewoods any good? Any better options? John.
14. Pete, I have a similar problem, which is intermittent. The good old copper band does help, but go to the doctor, mate. You will likely need Diclofenics, which work very well. John.
15. Reply to OP. Yup. S'awful. But I gave it a chance...
16. Good choice, apple man...
17. My bass has a convenient block of wood screwed to the top of the scratchplate to rest the thumb on. It's dead convenient...
18. Thanks Bonzodog.
19.
I think this is great, regardless of them being 17. I love to see/hear youngsters being creative and to a good standard. I know there's loads more technology for them than when I was a kid, but this is good playing and a mature arrangement.
Have to agree with that. Do they have a website?
20. I asked via the Fairport website. Had a reply back direct from Peggy. "Hi and they dont exist! Sorry cheers, Peggy." So, plan C - write yer own... John.
21. Ta.
22. Can I add a personal recommendation for Feline Guitars 0208 6809131 www.felineguitars.com Croydon? They just overhauled my old Satellite bass. It was a little bit of a donkey and it's just come 'alive'. The sound is really sharp with a lovely twangy feel. A top job for not much cash. Johnm.
23. Ah. Plan B, then...
24. So - did you have any luck...?
25. .....Subdivisions is HOW old....? oh 'eck...
