Hi Captain I've only just noticed this thread...wow, what a process...what a bass! I made contact with Robbie Mc just before Xmas to discuss some ideas around a custom built 6-string singlecut... Singlecut 6 Marseer Swallowtail Ebony BoardHoney Buckeye top with sandwich veneer of purpleheart / walnut backMaple/wenge 5 piece neck 34 scale, Slotted headstock with face burl cap. Medium frets Luminlay side markers Brass nutCustom Passive Rim Pickups or Christoph Dolf , Delano etc. Vol,Vol,tone setupHipshot Bridge in Black with Gold saddlesSperzel tunersJD Straplocks High gloss finish Protection Racket Soft Hardcase... what a thoroughly top bloke he is! Rob told me that he's not in a position to take on any new commisions until his current batch of builds is completed, which is fair enough and understandable. I guess until then I'm just going to have to feed off your excitement...not long to wait, she'll soon be in mitts, fella!
Hi Mate, i have a new japanese special run limited edition , aged candy apple red 1975 jazz bass with pj config, alder body, maple neck with rosewood fret board mop inlays and white binding, it is a fantastic sounding looking bass i have the same trouble as your good self it just dont fit right somehow !!! big fat tone with the pj pups made to perfection these basses outclass the american basses. i also purchased a fender tweed case for the bass . its barely 2 weeks old. would be happy to do an exchange with you if you were interested. cheers George my feedback http://basschat.co.u...eofio-feedback/
Hi George.... Wow, stood next to Geddy on your profile pic. Geddy is THE reason for my becoming aware that there is such a thing as the bass guitar...It was 1980, I was 12 years old and I'd just heard Permanent Waves... That's an extremely tempting offer there, buddy, but I've kinda had my head turned by Musicman so I'm going to tread water for a little while longer. Cheers

Right, here we go....this is the first time I've tried to sell/trade on Basschat. I bought this used Spector Euro LX4 a few months ago from Bass Direct for £1100. Now, having spoken with some fellow Basschat bods, it seems that I paid well over the going rate. Such is life, I'm a novice player and, looking back, I should have done my research, but you live and learn, eh? Another fellow Basschatter, praised by others for his knowledge of Spectors, advised me that a ballpark resale figure would start around the 900 quid mark which sounds fair enough to me! Here's the link for the original Bass Direct ad that I responded to...http://www.bassdirec..._4_Classic.html The Bass Direct spec states a 35" scale. Now, as I've said, I'm a novice but measuring from the nut to the 12th fret I make it 17" which would mean it's a 34" scale...wouldn't it? . I hope the pics come out ok on here...the last 2 which show the only flaws on the bass that I can see (very small marks above a pickup/to the right of the screw, and on the upper body). It was sold to me in a padded TGI gigbag which it's still in. The Spector plays and sounds AMAZING! But, for some strange reason, it just doesn't suit me. To put this into perspective I've recently purchased a used Squier CV Precision (cheers, Funkle) which "fits" me perfectly. I'm also open for trades, and I'm particularly looking out for a Musicman Stingray which would be the bass I'd replace the Spector with if it's sold. Cheers, peeps!
Good advice! Unless you really don't get on with a bass but really want something else - in which case it can be better to sell/trade at a lower value to get something that works for you and that you will use. Put the loss of cash down to experience if you can take the hit... I personally hate keeping basses that I don't play. I would rather I sold them to someone who will use them! But maybe that's just me
Nah, it's not just you mate, I don't like the fact that a sleek, long necked Czech beauty is sat lonely and unloved whilst I lavish my attention of £200 worth of Far Eastern cheap n cheerful, lol.
It's worth £750 - £900 depending on what the market will bear. I'd never let a EuroLX go for less than that, even more so as as new ones are these days almost £2k! The market is slow at the moment, but it WILL pick up so hang onto it for now or trade it for something else of the same value.
Yeah, mate, £750-900 would be a fair sale/trade figure, and from what I've seen of previous ads on here should put me in the vicinity of a used US Precision/Musicman Stingray.
-
I'm not a Spector expert, but I think you have a Euro LX4-35 there, which is a bit rarer - I believe the standard LX4 has a 34 inch scale.
Yeah, thanks for the feedback, Graham (and everyone else), much appreciated, though I'm still uncertain as how to progress with the Spector sale. Tbh, I'd be happy if I managed to get enough for it to allow me to pick up a used USA Precision or Musicman Stingray, both of which I was considering before I clapped eyes on the Spector. Hindsight can be a real pain in the arse, lol.

Hi, guys, I'm just looking for some advice, what with me being a bit of a bass playing neophyte... I treated myself to a used Spector Euro LX4 a few months ago from Bass Direct. It set me back £1100 and was my first "real" bass having previously had only the most budget of budget instruments. I don't know if this makes any sense to you guys but I've come to the realisation that the Spector, well...it just doesn't "fit" me . The action and neck are very comfortable, I think it sounds great...but, for me, something about it just doesn't click. Anyway, I digress... I've had the Spector on Gumtree, Preloved and now Ebay for a few weeks, at prices ranging from over a grand to an all time low of £849, but no interest whatsoever. Now, given that the bass was second-hand when I got it from Bass Direct for eleven hundred notes, I'm wondering to myself whether I should have entered into negotiations before agreeing to pay (what I thought was) a fair asking price, especially given that I'm getting no real interest at £849 let alone anything near what I originally paid for it! Soooooo, to try and cut a long story short, what do you peeps think I should be asking for my Euro LX? I'm going to try and attach some pics of it on here (but don't hold your breath because I'm as handy on the lappy as I am on the bass, lol). PS just as a further digression, I now have the most amazing Squier Classic Vibe Precision, courtesy of our very own Funkle (hi, Pete)..it cost me £230....and it "fits"!!!

I'm a relative newcomer to playing bass and to this site, and it's the first time that I have purchased an item from a fellow basschat member. I'm now the proud owner of a gorgeous Squier Classic Vibe Precision, courtesy of Pete (Funkle). I can't recommend highly enough the service and advice that Pete offers. The bass arrived even before the expected delivery date, securely packaged and in perfect order. In short, great bloke, great service. 'Nuff said.

Just a quick shout out and thumbs up for Stuart Clayton. Over the Christmas/New Year hols I decided to treat myself to a couple of his tab books. I received his John Entwistle bass book this morning (hehe, I'm looking at it right now), but it was the Chic/Bernard Edwards book that REALLY brought a grin to my face. Sometimes I get a bit carried away when listening to the bass virtuoso technique monsters, but looking at the tab, listening to the music and attempting to play Bernards' grooves reminds me why, in the first place, I chose the bass as my instrument! Cheers, Stu.

Hi, guys, Yeah, Matt Garrison tab; I can't find it anywhere. Any ideas or leads? Cheers.

An elusive beast is the Warwick singlecut 6-string...
Scott S replied to Scott S's topic in Bass Guitars
Gulp...£4749? Blimey! I think that it can stay hidden in the woodland contemplating its' pending extinction. I'm off to the Sei website! Cheers Shobaleader One. -
Hi guys, I'm pretty sure that it didn't appear to me in a dream, and my body temperature is 36.5 degrees C, so it couldn't have been an image induced by a febrile state. Tell me, the Warwick singlecut 6-string really does exist...doesn't it? If indeed it does exist then where can I find one of these shy, woodland creatures, and how much cash will I have to con out of my lovely bank manager to become the proud father of one of these rather splendid musical coffee tables? I'm damned if I can find one this side of Google Images. Help me, Basschat.co.uk, you are my only hope.
