1. Hi buddy, That's a nice P-bass you have there. I know that it's not on your list of trade instruments but I thought that I'd throw my hat into the ring... I have a RIM J/P 5-string that I recently picked this up from another Basschatter (approximately 2 months ago). It's an outstanding bass hand built by Robbie McDade....here's his website http://www.rimcustomguitars.com/ When I purchased the RIM it was significantly underpriced due to the owner at the time looking to move it on as quickly as possible. An accurate trade price for the bass would be in the region of £1000-1100 due to high spec and quality of craftmanship. Cheers, Scott.
2.
Beautiful bass, GLWTS!
Thanks for the kind words Matt!
3.
one American P bass ain't enough Scott ?
Haha...nah, Shem, I got me a P-bass addiction and it's all your fault
4. Yeah, I'm gutted that the three-way trade (ooh, err, missus) didn't transpire
5. Oh, soz, I forgot to mention....it's just over 8lbs according to the scales.
6. Ok, ok, so I've had it for only a couple of months, but the GAS/being broke equation just isn't balancing out (does it ever?!).... Deedee...I really hope that you don't mind me using the words and images from your original ad'; the state of play remains the same... Without further ado, here comes the plagiarism...er, I mean, here comes the ad' 2007 3 - band EQ 'Off' White – nicely discolouring Maple fingerboard – again nicely ageing Schaller strap lock buttons MMHSC Weight: approximately 8lbs according to the bathroom scales. It really does look very retro with the white finish going distinctly yellow and the maple neck and fingerboard both darkening. This 'ray is in great condition with the only blemish of note, a small chip below the bridge which can be seen in one of the attached photos. I have a MM hard shell case to go with it (the case is cracked in a couple of places but these are not noticeable or detrimental to the protection the case gives). In a weird quirk of fate, like the previous owner I, too, am out on the sniff for an American P-bass (in fact I've already seen one, that's why the 'ray has to go). I live on the Wirral, picking it up from here is fine as is courier delivery (I have a roll of bubble wrap the size of a hay bale!). Cheers, peeps.
7. Actually, there's tonnes of good stuff on here, lol... http://www.thebassment.info/artists/a-z.html
8.
I've heard a couple of Jamiroquai tracks he played on and was very impressed. Can you recommend any Incognito for me to check out the best of RHT?
As a RHT/Jamiroquai slight digression I dunno if anyone would be interested in this...? http://www.thebassment.info/transcriptions/jamiroquai-talullah-tab.pdf
9.
Paul "Tubbs" Williams of Light of the World??
Nice one, listening to them right now!
10.
Yes, Thrust is good and Sunlight, and Mr Hands too; but my faves are obscure Japanese vinyl, tho they may be available on CD or as mp3s these days. They are Flood (incredible live album with best version of Chameleon) and the other is an LP called Direct Step, which has one said that is just the best ever version of I Thought It Was You....that's how to use a vocoder!
Thanks again, Bassnut62!
11.
The Headhunters album is a great start, but my favourite is Thrust, especially the song Palm Grease. Jerry Jemmott is well worth a mention on this thread. On BB King's Live and Well album, he plays on the studio half, and really shows his funk on Get Off My Back Woman
Woo hoo, this is great, lovin' it!
12.
Paul Jackson of The Headhunters - my bass hero!
Cheers for that Bassnut62, Are there any particular Herbie Hancock/Headhunters albums that you'd recommend?

14. My GAS for one of these little babies is so bad that I'm considering off-loading my recently purchased 2007 'ray just to fund one!
15. Much to my shame I'd never heard of Bobby Vega... .....woo hoo, "Buttermilk"!
16. Cheers, thanks for the head's up, I'll check out Mr Rimson.
17. Cheers, guys, suggestions duly acted upon...all except Funky Dunky...coz he ain't on Deezer.
18. Hi fellow Basschatters Recently I've been getting into some Tower of Power/Rocco stuff. Aside from the likes of Prestia and Pastorius, can anyone point me in the direction of other goodly purveyors of groovy, 16th note finger funk bass? Cheers.
19.
Found this after a quick google - hope it's helpful (I'm not familiar with the track). https://www.youtube....h?v=CWwsI43_Yaw
Yep, that's the one. Cheers, bud!
20. Dan is a top bloke, effortless communication and service. Our deal was done and dusted within just a few days; from initial enquiry to my receiving his Custom RIM P/J 5'er in my grubby mitts. Deal in confidence, Dan's a goodun!
21. Yeah, ladies and gentlemen, Victor at his funky best; it's a cracking CD. The title track has a series of descending arpeggios as an introduction (and repeated, later on, in the track). Just out of interest, does anyone have the tab to this section or, if not, know what the arpeggios are? Every time that I've sat down and tried to figure them out by ear I just end up confused and frustrated (dunno if I'm making them out to be more than they are or over complicating things, lol). Cheers peeps.
