Total kudos for Dan. I just had to have his white Stingray...but my annual jollies complicated matters No problem, he put it on hold for me and the transaction was completed upon my return Buy/sell with absolute confidence. Cheers, mate, I hope that you can survive with just the two 'rays now, and my P-bass is most aggrieved at being pushed off top spot, lol. Scott.
someone buy this. It's haunting me!
Cameron, mate, if it's haunting you then I must need a friggin' exorcist! I've still got irons in the fire, Andy, and if you've still got her when things come to fruition then I'll take her off your hands...guaranteed. -
:-) that has tickled me!!! I think it's just bands, VERY fortunate to be in (IMHO) a good band right now, but it's nearly bloody killed me in the process of getting the right personnel!!
It's good to hear that you're sorted band-wise atm, bud! Hmmmm, I think it's just when guitarists use the prefix "lead", lol

Fender Jazz Deluxe 5-string...with a 'ray bridge pickup???
Scott S replied to Scott S's topic in General Discussion
I have one of those Sandbergs. It's brilliant! Just configure it how you like and order it.
Do you know what? It's strange just how Fender-centric I've become over the years, without even realising it. I mean, I'm aware of Sandbergs, I've seen them advertised and I've noticed that they're talked about with high regard, but I've really never allowed them to slip into my consciousness (err, if you know what I mean? ) as an alternative to my tried-and-tested default brand. -
Sandberg?
@Damonjames, @Scott S, sounds like you guys have spent some time in the same covers bands as me!
Haha, counting to ten and thinking of kittens has a very limited shelf-life

Fender Jazz Deluxe 5-string...with a 'ray bridge pickup???
Scott S replied to Scott S's topic in General Discussion
Well, mate, yes...and no. I think that I may be a little conservative and set in my ways, but the appearance of the Dimension just doesn't do it for me. The humbucker may be an entirely different matter though, and might make more "sense" (if, indeed, I am being sensible, lol) than a Stingray pup. -
Yeah, I've just been wondering to myself.... You see, I've got GAS atm for a white, Fender Deluxe jazz fiver with a maple fretboard, but I'm not particularly enamoured with the sound of the Jazz bridge pickup. I do like the sound of the Musicman Stingray's pickup, soooooooo......could, for example, a Seymour Duncan SMB-5D 5-string ceramic jobby be made to fit a Fender? (I may be inexperienced and naive, and I may be committing a cardinal sin, even in asking, lol). I really like the look and feel of the Fender, as compared to a Stingray 5, and so a combination of the two would be, for me, the best of both worlds. Cheers, peeps.
Yes, I was just thinking about Nile ... to the OP, the bad news is that your problems are not solved even when you have managed to get a Bernard-ish tone and can play his lines tolerably well. An even more intractable problem then awaits: getting your guitarist to approximate what Nile does. If your guitarist comes from a rock/blues background (and needless to say, many if not most do, in this country at least), then it's going to be an uphill struggle. The problem is that many guitarists think funk guitar is 'easy' - just a couple of chords, lots of choking and that fast strumming plectrum thing - how hard can it be, eh? But when they have a go at it, you get this horrible churning sound that rock guitarists always make when they think they are being funky. Many do not even understand how to eq their amp for funk playing - turn off that reverb and distortion, FFS! Anyway, good luck with it!
Yep, I couldn't agree more, mate. I mean, if you can play the solo from Comfortably Numb then Nile's metronomic "chicka chicka" I Want Your Love verse rhythm playing will be a doddle, right?

Sounds fair enough to me, I'm all for leaving on strings until they break I was a bit gutted a couple of weeks ago though. My dream 'Ray was on the For Sale forum; maple fretboard, white body, black scratchplate and at a very reasonable asking price...and I didn't have the readies, just when I needed them most
