1. I saw Metallica on the..."And Justice for All" tour in Birmingham back in the day. To say that they were sloppy wouldn't do it (gulp) justice. The much maligned Kirk Hammett was truly awful. By comparison the "Clash of the Titans", with Slayer/Megadeth topping the bill, and Testament and Suicidal Tendencies in support, was amazing. Metallica, IMO, began as a force to be reckoned with, but then became a victim of their own ego and hype. If you drench a fart in wah wah it's still a fart.

You get The Idea tho https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=84DNAHnILyY&list=UUmzLlMVh8WOGd-hnEI4XPHw
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/84DNAHnILyY?list=UUmzLlMVh8WOGd-hnEI4XPHw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Amazing playing, Col'! Looking forward to the fretless/Mick Karn transcription!
3. Oooooh, ain't that just a thing of beauty?! GLWTS, buddy, I sooooo wish that I had the spare cash
4. Blimey, Buzz', I feel bereaved myself just reading your post
5.
I'd certainly pay that for one - it's only £40 more than the recent Squier VM PJ basses (I had one in sunburst) and as nice as the Squier was, the ESP felt like a more expensive instrument to me. Of course if you do find that parts are lacking, you've still got a great platform for modifications. This was mine:
That's a tidy looking bass alright. Yeah, come pay day I'm going to treat myself to the fretless. What I save on with the money I'll lose out on with my painfully dodgy intonation. Mrs S isn't going to be happy, lol.
6. Cool. in that case then, guys, £283 may be a bigger bargain than I thought
7. This would be my first foray into into fretless territory so I'm hoping for some basschat advice. I came across this cheapy-but-goody on another thread; £283 from Gear4music.com and looking like an absolute bargain! Obviously it's sold at such a eye catching price for good reason...it ain't no Tony Franklin Precision. But what if a good (albeit cheap) bass could be made even better? Do any of you peeps have suggestions for customisation, be it bridge, tuners, pups or even an ebony fingerboard (I do love ebony, lol)? Would any potential costs be worth the effort or would it be better to just look for another fretless bass at a higher price? Cheers.
8. Cuppa PG on the way-style bump.
9. Nice weekend, I don't like Mondays-style bump.
10. Greggo I have a Squier 60's CV Precision and it's total quality. Oh...it's up for sale on here, too! lol
11. Pino on a budget, nostalgic shemeck-type bump.
12. Bum-titty bump. Shem' if you buy it then you can look at it all you want! lol. MikeyOC...I've no idea of the shipping costs to the Emerald Isle, but if you want to look into it and email the courier labels on to me then it's yours, mate (we can discuss the possibility of splitting the delivery charge via PM if you like?). Pestie, next time you have a senior moment tip me the wink and I'll flog you my gorgeous Squier 60's CV Precision bass because you've never had one before...have you? lol.
13. *** SOLD *** I'm selling my Fiesta Red Squier Classic Vibe 60's Precision. It weighs 8.75 pounds, is in AS-NEW condition, no dings or nicks, sounds amazing and is a very resonant instrument. Lovely grain on the neck. This is the bass that got me really hooked on Precisions, and it's only being sold because I have recently up-graded to the full, US version (thanks Shemeck, still loving the trade). It's had added to it a chrome bridge cover to give it even more of a retro look. The bass came my way from Funkle in January and before that I think it was owned by Pestie (hope that you guys don't mind all this name dropping? lol). The instrument will be supplied with a padded TCI gig bag and it can be tried/picked up from the Wirral. If bought from further afield, and you require courier service, I have the cardboard box in which it was delivered to me and a hay bale sized roll of bubble wrap! The lads at KGB Music in Birkenhead have recently performed a full set-up/new strings on the bass and it plays like a dream. No trades wanted, boys and girls. * PLEASE NOTE...the last photo is a stock image that I have used because my poor quality pics don't do justice to the Fiesta Red colour! * PLEASE NOTE...this IS NOT the same bass that Pestie recently sold here... although my bass was once owner by Pestie...err, if that makes any sense
14. Mike, I've got an identical one that you sold to Funkle a while back. I was about to put it up for sale on here because I've upgraded to a US Precision. 176 views and NO replies...blimey, is the market slow or what? These basses are quality.

SOld.

ARGH! The GAS...it's burning my pretty flesh!
16. I bought a totally amazing Squier CV P bass off here in January. It's an absolutely stunning instrument! Er, though I'm gunna be putting it for sale here soon...because I recently took possession of a USA P bass...yeah, go on, squeeze me into the dock as well
17.
I didn't know that Bernie used a P!...I have a P...I am the problem, lol.
Err...and come to think of it...I used to have a Spector...which was traded for Shemeck's P! Taxi's on its way, has anybody seen my coat?
18.
The popular myth about Bernard's tone is the MM bass. He recorded a lot with a P bass too. Later on towards the end of his life he also used G&L and Spector basses. So, the choice of bass is not really the key to his tone. I try to get as close to his tone for a few recording jobs and get nowhere near. I find that lots of mid, bit of bass boost and quite a bit of treble cut gets good results. I have tried flats and rounds and I still struggle to get the Bernard tone. Technique is the key. I have watched his playing very closely and Bernard had a very light touch. Maybe has a lot to do with it. Let's face it guys, he was a one off. The only person that sounds like Bernard is Bernard.
I didn't know that Bernie used a P!...I have a P...I am the problem, lol.
19. Wow, I'm shocked and saddened. In a round-about way it was Paco who was responsible for my taking up the bass. Back in the early '80's my dad video taped "The Meeting of the Spirits" (Paco, Larry Coryell and John McLaughlin) when it was shown on Channel 4. From McLaughlin I heard about Stanley Clarke. Chau, Paco.
