    Up until recently I owned a Mexican Fender roadworn P bass. Generally loved it but, after playing it for an hour or so, I found the wide neck a little uncomfortable so decided to let it go. I’m missing that P bass sound though and would love to find another which has that worn in feel, relatively light but resonant body but with a slightly slimmer neck. Doesn’t need to be jazz bass skinny, I prefer a bit more meat than that - just not as wide as the roadworn. I’ve only played a handful of P basses so wondering if you fine people could narrow down my choices a bit with some suggestions? Budget is flexible…ish - I’d stump up for the right bass but would also snap up something bargainous. Doesn’t need to be brand new or roadworn either, but would be lovely if it does have that played in feeling. Appreciate any suggestions!

    I’ve got a 3EQ EBMM Stingray which I love, but I owned a 2EQ for a while and preferred the sound of it (shouldn’t have sold it!) The electronics on my current MM are playing up a bit so I’m considering “converting” it to a 2EQ system as part of getting it fixed. I’ve seen the John East preamps - I’ve been looking on the site but I’m not sure they have what I’m looking for - the 2EQ ones have the front mounted input socket, whereas mine has the input socket on the bottom of the body (standard 3EQ setup). Does anyone know if John East do a 2EQ set up which would fit straight in to my bass? Also, whilst I’m looking at preamps, is it worth swapping out the pickup too? I know it’s probably personal preference for sound, but would any alternative pickup get me closer to that classic 2EQ sound? thanks for any info in advance!

    I need to send my bass amp (Ashdown ABM500) to them for a service. They’ve quite rightly suggested sending in a strong cardboard box with plenty of soft packing inside. Can anyone suggest where I could get a suitably strong box from?

    Now sold. I’ve had this bass for a couple of years, but it’s not getting a lot of use as I’m really not playing 5 stringers any more, so I’m looking to let it go... Just been professionally serviced and set up with new strings (Ernie Ball Super Slinky). I’d be interested in trades for a 4 string Fender Jazz. I’m after a 60s/62 reissue ideally, also roadworns, but happy to consider what you have. Will add cash for the right bass/one of higher value than my Ray. Bass in located in Norwich (as am I 😆). I have a soft case for the bass, could courier as I have a guitar box to pack it in, or I’d consider delivering in East Anglia for the right trade/price etc! Any questions, just ask...

    I remember going there many, many years ago with my drummer mate for a musical day out in London. I didn’t buy anything as basically I couldn’t afford anything, but I remember being in awe of the sheer volume of bass porn on offer there! Always meant to go back when I was older and more financially secure (ie credit cards to rack up tons of musical debt with 😂) but alas it has already closed its doors. Shame.

    Just dug out my old Ray35, and whilst it plays really nicely, the pickup/electronics aren’t really doing anything for me. I assume you can retro fit SR5 electronics and pickup straight into the Ray35, but can anyone confirm this? And if so, can you buy the whole lot as a set in one go? Any info appreciated!
