got these to get some cheap strings for one of my backup P basses. put them on Thursday evening, only had about 10 mins use but i'm not a fan not quite zingy enough for me, so if anyone wants them there more than welcome. can post for a couple quid or you can pick them up from Leicester (evening/weekends) Nottingham (9-4 weekdays) still got the box i think put ill pop in a random strings packet if i cant find them Heres a random link to some info http://www.tmart.com/Ziko-045-Professional-Alloy-Bass-Strings-Set_p203940.html cheers!

Just finished one today, the body and neck are well made, and fit together nicely, the electronics are okay. Pickup sounds fine but the pots are cheap and a bit crackly. Tuners, bridge and and chrome parts are all cheap but for the price they do the job. Think the whole thing cost £80 including paint, so could of of just got a harley benton but i wouldnt of got to chose the colour or had the fun of building it!

i did actually wire up a PJ as tone tone vol as it was a particularly slow day! it worked and was a nice experiment as you could have the J pup with tone all the way up and P pup all the way down and vice-versa to get different tones, but changed back to vol vol tone when i realized i'll have the tones all the way up in the end anyway!

i like them, we have them on the basses at the college i work for, we get them as we have 7 basses that the students use for band practices so don't need to be the best quality in the world, pretty zingy and stay that way for a surprising amount of time and nice tension, i bought some for my active bitsa PJ and i think they sound great on it! -
I got all the bits for my 4 bitsa's from ebay and harley benton deko guitars, gota be careful on ebay i've had some bad parts, alot i get from chinese sellers and turn out to be pretty good!

I've always liked the look of Peavey Zodiacs and get a bit of GAS every time i see one, do i really need another PJ?!? maybe if one turns up for a very good price i'll pull the trigger and just buy it!

I've considered getting rid of mine a couple of times and again as soon as i plug it i know i cant live with out it it! i gigged with it for years and retired it when i started preferring P bass again. mines the Teal 4 string version with a clear plate now (still have the chequer plate one) it'll be its 10th birthday this February, i should throw a party -

I've got many many Bitsa's and have gotten pretty good at building guitars, basses and setting them up. i just love building guitars and for less than £50 i cant complain it'll be a nice project over my Christmas break! but i agree that if your just looking for a cheap gig worthy bass a second hand squier is a solid choice as is a Harley Benton or one of the lower priced yamahas! i wouldn't go for a kit bass if i didn't love the whole building and modding process. it also means i can put a ridiculous colour scheme on it!

that's what i was thinking, even if just the body is usable id be happy but a workable neck and usable hardware would be nice! ill let you know my thoughts when it arrives in the next couple of days!

i was flicking through the recent amazon sales for Christmas presents when i noticed upon this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Cher-Rystone-0754235504986%C2%A0Jazz-Bass-DIY/dp/B00UTL9L28/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1480348239&sr=8-6&keywords=cher+rystone+bass (how i ended up looking at basses when i should of been looking for presents i'll never know) i thought it was a good price at £76 for alder body and PJ pups kit and it was even better when there was an Amazon Warehouse special one up for grabs which i ended up paying £43 for! apparently the box is open and a small dent on the rear of the body. has anyone had any experience with these? or even seen them before? i cant find anything about Cher Rystone guitars but some things about Cherrystone guitars (guessing there probably the same). I've already purchased it but was inquisitive on whether anyone has actually built one up!

i work in a FE/HE college and after changing the strings on the college basses just leave the old ones on my desk for any student to take, they go surprisingly quickly and there isn't much life left in the strings, so students will bite your hand off for some semi bright strings!
Other than going for the branded bridges, Northwest Guitars do some great bridges for little money. http://www.northwest...k/bass-bridges/
Iv used these http://www.northwestguitars.co.uk/4-string-electric-jazz-precision-bass-guitar-bridge/ on a few bitsa basses and have them on 2 of my precision, there a direct replacement screw holes all lined up nicely. very good for the price and iv found some near exact ones on ebay from china for around £5, proper bargain if you don t mind waiting a month for delivery! (it is free post) the silver/chrome ones seem to be a bit better finished than the black ones, but still nothing to be sniffed at and look very stealth on my black/black.rosewood franken P

always play with P basses live main rig - DR J Sparrow to TC mojomojo for extra dirt into Budda chakkra into a Genz benz shuttlemax 12.2 and 2xGenz 1x12s acoustic rig - markbass blackline 250 into one of the genz 1x12 tiny rig - peavey microbass combo (for when i play to my dogs in the living room) used to swap and change my head and cabs all the time but since settling on mainly genz gear iv not had a reason to change..... yet
-
I got a gator soft carry case for my shuttlemax 12.2 from Thomann for a good price, there well padded and have a few good sized pockets for cables and strings etc. I think it's designed for a smallish sized mixer but the genz fits in nicely. There loads of different sizes so should find one for wt800.

cheers guys, i tried loctitie and it still came off. its only a really shin ernie ball strap, the type you get for about £5, i havent had the problem with the schaller strp locks just these fender ones. i think im going down the washer route, i should have some black annodized looking ones at work so might "borrow" a few of them! cheers for the advice, if theres anymore ideas throw them this way, i have a fair few basses i could do different things to, to try them out!
-
I have a set of Fender strap locks on my fender P, there the ones that screw on kind of like a bottle top. I have no problems with the actual strap button attaching to the body there lovely and secure, it's the screw on part that hold the strap that constantly comes loose, I have to tighten it multiple times during a gig, Iv tried loctight, super glue even no more nails and yet they keep coming loose! Has anyone any ideas to solve it? Or should I just go back to the old standard of grolsch bottle tops over the buttons?

I order a TGI bag from bass direct expecting the black and blue one to replace the same one o had at home with a busted zip, but they sent a different one that is actully better, but not the same! might want to contact them before ordering (if you choose that one of course) The Thomann gig bags are very good, we use them at work for all the instruments we have (8 basses, 8 guitars and acoustic instruments) they all live in one when we take them out on Gigs never had a problem and they take a beating!!
-
i love a bitsa, currently have 4, 3 precision's and a jazz, built from a collection of ebay parts, old parts and bits from Thomann Dekos back when you had a chance of getting them, as many have said all worth nothing but i enjoyed building them as much as i enjoy playing them! also meant i could experiment with different pickups, preamps, bridges and necks!

And there gone! Finally got around to finishing a PJ deko project last night, £28 deko + a £39 Chinese eBay neck + a £5 Chinese active preamp and it's a beast of a bass! The neck is especially nice really good glossy finish and I really like the dark tint, the preamp is also surprisingly good for the price clean sounding and keeping the P-bass tone but with a bit more control with boost/cut bass and treble. Apologies about the awful picture I only have my phone and crappy lighting in my music room -
neck just arrived! it looks pretty damn good, the finish seems really nice, actually really like the dark tint, and frets seem fine to me, cant wait to get in and put it on a body!! delivery was also surprisingly fast at 10 days!
