  1. It’s worth bearing in mind that the depreciation is very little. The second hand market is very robust. Keep it long enough and you may even make some money so it’s all relative.
  2. I really like The Smith’s. Always thought Morrisey was a bell end though. As for his solo career you would be hard pressed to make a decent album out of the entire output. I always thought of Richard Hawley as the thinking mans Morrisey. Maybe he should team up with Marr?
  3. It’s a Cohen Brothers film and the main character expresses a preference between the aforementioned bands. It’s also highly recommended viewing.
  4. I’m more into Labowki than either The Eagles or CCR but there wasn’t an option for that. If pushed would go CCR. The Eagles do what they do well but as Mr Waits said about Ol 55, “It’s a bit antiseptic”
  5. I think they were called Cliff Richard and The Shadows 😉
  6. 😀 I don’t know…. Picture “How soon is now “ slowed down and doom laden: Ich bin der Sohn und der Erbe einer Schüchternheit, die kriminell vulgär ist
  7. I like it does it exist? Would go nice let with Dub Side of the moon, Easy Star AllStars Just googled and yes they do.. will have a listen!
  8. Did the Strolling Bones exist?
  9. Id like to form a tribute band called Das Schmitt’s doing smiths covers in German, but sounding more like Laibach.
  10. This. Bit of heat shrink over the soldered join and nice and neat. Oh and if it’s active take the battery off first!
  11. I thought Duran Duran had split up or are they still going?
  12. It’s a prog-jazz-art house hipster fusion band. They all read Nietzche and look like Dutch fisherman from the 1920’s.
  13. I presume Guy Pratt was playing bass on it?
  14. Roxy Music are a band I hated at the time but am only just beginning to appreciate how great they actually were.
  15. All great advice. I wish I had known about the pre-tin the first time I soldered anything. I would have made far less mess! I would also add that unless you are very confident if you need to solder in the cavity cover the exposed area of your bass in some cardboard/thick fabric. If you do mess up then the bass body won’t get burned.
  16. For me it wasn’t just great bass lines. Several new wave bands took the bass from being a melodic and sometimes twee “behind the scenes” instrument and brought it into the foreground. Hence my Gallop/Hook nomination. Motörhead (not new wave) but Lemmy gets massive kudos for this as well.
  17. Does anyone know what tuner bushings fit the MIM Vintera P basses? I have tried 2 sets and both are too small. Fender do have vintage ones that say fit vintage re-issue so guess would fit. I’ve contacted them but heard nothing… would rather not waste £10 but may have to rely on my dodgy measuring skills.
  18. 250ml! It can be passed down the family like an heirloom. I can’t see how any damage can be done if the instructions “use sparingly” are followed. Incidentally any one use Ernie Ball wonder wipes on their Rays? They work nicely and have to be used sparingly as they are about £60 each. OK a (slight) exaggeration.
  19. This. I’ve had the same 59ml bottle of lemon oil for nearly 16 years. It’s half full. No problem with any of my rosewood boards.
  20. True but strange you should mention Hendrix who was a pretty poor singer. I would say the same for Dylan, REM, The Fall, The Cure, Crazy Horse you get the picture.. is there something unique and captivating about their voice or are just rubbish? Its like Crosby, Stills and Nash. I only really like them when Young is added to the mix and he sounds like Kermit the frog.
  21. I bought these in black if you can’t get any others. Fit the Geezers fine and are pretty well made:Deal: ACCOCO 4pcs Gloden Guitar Knob Aluminum Alloy Potentiometer Control Knob Volume Audio Electric Guitar Bass Screw Type 20 x 15.5mm, with Allen Keys https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B08HLYKH6L/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_glt_fabc_1JMTBQ6GQE88FAQDSHNH?psc=1 Link is to the Gold ones.
  22. Or if you were decorating the offices of your corporate HQ and needed various artefacts to impress your clients. Nice investment wrapped up in a tax write off. Not being cynical but I expect that’s how most of this stuff works.
  23. A paint brush used by DaVinci would be worth more yes. If it was used to paint a know picture even more so. If DaVinci had a time machine and scribbled on the paint by numbers set it would be worth more than your house. People collect stuff and have a fascination with fame and history that’s it really.
