  1. Pearls before swine - Corrosion of conformity
  2. I’m not sure why you feel so aggrieved? You asked what the purpose of a broker like Parcel2Go was and got a response. They are convenient and can offer a cheaper service. The pitfalls are you have another link in the chain when things go wrong and they have a somewhat nefarious system of insurance against damages and loss. If you operate a small business sending hundreds or even thousands of parcels each year the cheaper cost and convenience of multiple couriers at the click of the button will probably offset the setbacks and costs associated with missing and damaged parcels and insurance is probably not worth taking. For your average punter don’t use them if the loss or damage is more than you are prepared to put up with. I don’t think Kev was insulting you. I have no idea what consumer rights are in Belgium and he was only trying to explain the set up here in the UK he understood them.
  3. This. And when you carefully go through the excluded items list for what is not covered by the insurance it’s pretty much everything. They will still happily take the insurance money though. I no longer send/receive anything I am not prepared to take a hit on. Fine if your contract for the goods is via a reputable seller who will compensate you and use their own considerable weight to get their money back from the courier/broker but hopeless for your average mug.
  4. This and with the multitude of apps available for each of the various couriers out there it’s a “single pane of glass” solution. The disadvantage as explained is if there is a problem with delivery it’s another link in the chain towards resolution. Don’t think Kev is being patronising l just think something is being lost in the message. A pitfall of most electronic communication.
  5. Smoke on the water - Deep Purple (sorry had to be done)
  6. I always saw that album cover as a metaphor. Innocence being targeted and corrupted by money and greed. Which is exactly what happens and is happening in this legal case.
  7. There is also a wider choice of entertainment options, home cinema, healthier lifestyle, exorbitant cost of booze (you can fly to pretty much any European capital for the price of a round of drinks) etc etc
  8. I think pubs worked out long ago that there is more money in craft beer, locally sourced food etc than live music. Live music venues have been struggling for a long while.
  9. There is some truth to this. France promotes and finances the creative industry more than we do in the UK including helping musicians with grants and radio airplay incentives. Has it had a massive impact on the artists careers or pushed French musicians to wider commercial success? Air, Daft Punk, Chinese Man, Gojira and Alcest spring to mind but there aren’t as many success stories as would be expected.
  10. The difference is you need the plumber and have called them yourself. Different than just wanting a pint. There are several bands and Musicians I pay to see live that aren’t chart material and play smaller venues. The audience finds them and they are on a totally different level than the average pub band. Some examples of pub/free festival acts I have gone on to pay to see live: Martin Harley Tankus the Henge The Hamsters Ozric Tentacles The Levellers All quite a while ago now as I don’t actively seek out music like I used to when I was younger but the really good performers all found a paying audience
  11. An amp I am interested in locally has come up so keen to sell. Will offer both the WEM and Orange Crush 12 for £300.
  12. Sir Horace Gentleman (Specials) sometimes uses one as does Simon Gallup from The Cure (but that’s not so unsurprising).
