  1. I’m not familiar with that song or band but they work! The more you ignore me - Morrisey
  2. In my mind grunge was just a label hung on a fairly blue collar music scene. Sub Pop and Seattle being the epicentre/catalyst of the scene I see little musical similarity between Nirvana and Soundgarden or The Sex Pistols and the Stranglers, or The Stone Roses and The Happy Mondays etc.
  3. It’s just another pointless catch all moniker. Useful for lazy journalists, putting music into neat order in physical shops and Spotify and flogging fashion accessories.
  4. I also “missed out” on Britpop. Listening to the music years later Pulp were interesting but a lot of it to my ears is inflicted with Beatle-esque melodies. A curse that haunts British music.
  5. I totally get where you are coming from and having played P’s for years before getting RSI know why you started the thread as I was searching for the same solution a while back. Edit: And yes I have a PJ with a jazz neck. The P pickup is in a slightly different position. It has its strengths and benefits but I am with you it’s not for me. It’s great but the Nate I settled on is always the bass I pick up.
  6. I may be missing something but I thought these were PJ’s. I like them, others might not and would just want a P with a Jazz neck. What you keep saying is a BLT sandwich is a bacon butty because it contains bacon. Edit: For anyone looking that just wants a Fender P with a Jazz neck try a Nate P. Not exact but pretty damn close.
  7. When you’re potentially looking at spending £1000 on a bass generally you want to get exactly what you are looking for. Even if just for aesthetic reasons. No one cares if your bass is fluorescent pink with a picture of Nigel Farrage on it. But it’s probably a deal breaker.
  8. More accurately you have a PJ. The thread exists because people are looking for a Fender P with a Jazz neck and so far the answer seems to be buy a Lakland instead or make a Bitsa. I can confirm the Nate Mendel is pretty close to a J neck and really comfortable to play.
  9. Some girls are bigger than others - The Smiths
  10. There are some high end basses that would definitely fall into the investment bracket. For the most part as another poster on this forum put it I view second hand instruments as a refundable deposit. You get to enjoy an instrument for a while and as long as you look after it it tends to sell for what you paid for it (after adjusting for inflation). So in that sense it is an investment as savings accounts at the moment are returning rates that are well below inflation.
  11. Sex&drugs&rock&roll - Ian dury and the blockheads
  12. This. Or if you want to spend a small fortune on a dream bass that you put together yourself head over to the Warmoth website.
  13. At this point I would not bother. It’s going to cost a fortune and you will never be as happy as just getting a decent bass to start with.
