They are definitely Marmite. They do sound amazing though and everyone seems to really enjoy playing them. I suspect they are the Stingray’s more able sibling but sadly hit every branch of the ugly tree.
Edit: I don’t ever want to play one for this reason as I suspect it would be better than my Stingray and I would have to swap one of the best looking basses ever made for one of the all time fugly basses!
I’m not sure how temporary this situation is. If the jitters in China start to become more serious there could be a sharp drop in lending worldwide. In theory this should be deflationary but the situation is so FUBAR anything could happen.
If someone has a big budget and believes nitro and mm perfect exact reproduction will make them sound better I’m sure there is a market for them. For the rest of us a Vintera from the desired era will certainly do the job. Set it up nicely and use it plenty to give it the desired “mojo”.
If people are experiencing a weak G issue the pickup poles can be raised or lowered to compensate. Just remove the pickup raise the G pole, lower the others, replace pickup and it should balance out fine.
I can’t speak for the OP but I wouldn’t describe myself as a musician. I’m just a ham fisted bodger that noodles around on the bass. They are frequently in bits as much as in a playable state. I would say music did have a big impact on my life. Any teenager with pretty much zero interest in football and the usual blokes banter should get into a band and or get a bike/skateboard.
It will definitely open up new possibilities and IMO a greater range of possibilities.
