  1. I’ve only ever played one Yamaha bass. It was a Billy Sheehan attitude 2 and was a lovely bass but the neck was a bit too chunky for my taste.
  2. Hold on - Tom Waits
  3. Nice. I’ve not seen one in the flesh as it were but watched several demo’s on YouTube. The only bridge’s I was aware of that would adjust sideways for string spacing were the Schaller 3D and I have one on a Vintera which is basically a BBOT with a bunch of grooves on the saddles which is a bit more primitive. Good luck with your build. I was going to call on your expertise at some point to fit a Status Graphite neck on my MIJ Geddy Lee …. Another Bitsa and the final one. I’m going to spend more time after this learning to play them better!

  6. Just a quick post in praise of the Hipshot Kickass bridge. I have nearly completed a Bitsa P build marrying a 1996 US P neck I have had on various basses over the years with an ‘86 US Elite body. Due to the position of the route for the missing bridge (and being unable to source an original) I used a Kickass bridge as it’s big enough to cover the route. Really impressed with the quality of these and the brass saddles are adjustable sideways which is perfect for getting the string spacing right (which can be a right pain on some Bitsa builds). Bit pricey but pleased with the quality.

  8. Yep that was the interesting period. I didn’t like much of their mid 80’s stuff TBH. I was really into Skinny Puppy however who arguably wouldn’t have existed without Caberet Voltaire.
  9. True (very late 70’s and 1980) but we’re several years ahead of their time and didn’t get recognition till the’80’s. Cabaret Voltaire wasn’t a good example though as it was named after a venue.
  10. I had one of these for a while. It was a pretty decent bass. In the Squire CV ballpark. £350 is reasonable and as @Bassassinsays you are unlikely to lose money if you change your mind.
  11. The 80’s seem to be about taking two slightly pretentious words and combing them: Caberet Voltaire Spandau Ballet Depeche Mode etc How about Warsaw Couture or any number of combinations to this effect?
  12. What’s inside a girl? - The Cramps
  13. Beat me to it. New York Dolls as well? I rewatched Gimme Danger the other day on Prime. The Stooges were years ahead with their sound, look and attitude.

  15. I’m getting a vision that combines an IKEA showroom with a church youth club.

  17. Second hand Squire CV P bass. Everything you need and no need to be precious about it at less than £300.

  22. Kind of sums him up for me. Probably written in the garden of Clark Gables old house in the LA sunshine sipping a nice little number from Nappa. The slightly awkward and pretentious lad who but for a chance encounter would probably have been a librarian in a small flat in Salford and all he can come up with is bitterness and less forgivable very average tunes.
  23. Thanks. I was just writing from memory having read his autobiography some years back. It’s still sad that bands sully their reputation by squabbling in court and ripping each other off, particularly if they align themselves with left wing anti capitalist rhetoric. Speaking of which how did Morrisey end up politically so misaligned? The full court transcript is here if anyone is interested https://www.bailii.org/ew/cases/EWCA/Civ/1998/1711.html
  24. Don’t stop - Stone Roses
