1. It's worth looking down the list of MERLIN members to possibly find a label nearer to you - MERLIN aggregate for a lot of the indies & generally get better rates with the digital services then the labels otherwise could. Having worked at a DSP for a few years I always found Tunecore to be good to deal with, though none of them were particularly bad. It's worth repeating that Bandcamp is a completely different route than going through an aggregator - really you should be doing both. Bandcamp for selling to fans, aggregators for promotion - the streaming services are only really a promotion tool, you'll never make real money from them. Let me know if anyone wants to know specifics about how the money flows through services like Spotify etc... It's pretty boring stuff but sometimes worth knowing if you want to make money from music.
2. Saw them last year (or possibly very early this) at Under the Bridge - very good live & Levy had a great sound, I think he was using those same basses too. I think one of the reasons not too many people are using Warwicks at the moment is that their sound is almost too recognizable - I think they sound great but sometimes you don't want the instrument to scream a brand, you just want it to fit in with the music (that's how I'm feeling about mine anyway)...
3. I like the styling of the Burns, the irony of so many pick-guards for me (a bassist that plays with fingers) is also pretty good! No idea what they sound like though; any famous recordings of a Burns in action?
4. Thanks mate - I think it must be the time of the year with everyone spending all their pennies on presents. Maybe someone will go for it once they've returned all the unwanted socks.
5. Bit slow to the party but done.
6. Pre Xmas Price drop. Price is ONO but really just want a Jazz....
7. When I was first learning to play I was in a band that started as covers then progressed to our own songs but my most recent couple of bands has been original only, I don't even think it matters if your songs are that good - it's just nice to go out and play your own stuff & see how people react to it.
8. Morning fellow Warwick owners. Has anyone had success in getting deep scratches fixed on the oil-type finishes? There was a bit of a DIY accident a few years ago; as you'll see from the below picture the cut has gone through the laquer & the stained wood through to the wood underneith & left quite a jagged line through the laquer finish. At the time I was hoping the it would gently wear away to become less obvious but nothing has really happened so I've decided to try to fix it. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to go about it please?
9. Price is negotiable on this btw though I'm sure one of you has a jazz bass tucked away somewhere that you're not using...
10. I bought my girlfriend a Lanikai LU21 last year; very happy with it. I tried a few different Ukes around that price range in a shop & the tone of this one sounded nice to my ear, but then none of them sounded bad!
11. Jealous - I really wanted one of those little 4x10s! After a recent downsize from full stack I'm now using this little set-up; much easier on the back for moving!
12. It's definitely a nice looking collection!
13. Like go faster stripes much?
14. [s]For sale or (preferably) trade - £600 Price drop to £450 or trade for Jazz Bass. I'm selling (or trading) my Akai Deep Impact synth bass pedal - I'm sure a lot of you will know about them as there's a couple of discussion topics on here. In full working order and includes the original box and power supply, as you can see from the pictures there are a couple of scuffs on the top (where the logo is) but they don't even go all the way through the paint. In my opinion these are the nicest synth bass pedals available, or this is certainly the best one I have used. Discontinued now so there aren't too many about for sale when I was looking for a price - I've picked the price based on previous sales threads on here & ebay completed listings. Ideally I'd like to trade for a Fender Jazz Bass of similar value; 4-string in sunburst is what I am really after but will consider other basses that have a similar sound & style. If not; I will sell for cash on collection (rather not use paypal etc for this level of money). I'm based in Wiltshire if serious purchasers/traders want to come & try/test it or I work in London so could meet somewhere central-ish if you wanted. Please let me know if you're interested or I've missed an important detail... [/s]
15. Never actually sold any of my basses (not that I own many) so my current list is: Peavey International Series - was my first bass, not too bad actually - still play it every now & again. Washburn 5-string - seriously cheap, was in desperate need for a 5-string on a very limited budget - sounds horrible, plays horrible. Warwick Corvette Std Active 5-string - bought to replace the above, I love it. Fender BG31 acoustic - probably play this the most as it's easy & doesn't disturb anyone. Looks nice in Candy apple red & sounds pretty good too (for the money).

Acoustic Bass

I have a Fender BG31 acoustic for the same reasons - it's not bad for the money. I wouldn't say I'm totally blown away by it but the tone is quite nice & holds it's own when playing with an acoustic guitar...
17. Interesting thread - great work.
