  1. Had a cracking gig at The Stumble Inn, Long Eaton. We'd played there before but the crowd this time around were well and truly up for a night of Thin Lizzy. I did feel sorry for the folk club who had been double booked upstairs though! A great turnout (I had trouble wandering around the crowd during a guitar solo 'duel' on Suicide) and a very noisy and appreciative one too...lots of great crowd participation, air guitars and chorus sing alongs A work colleague made himself known to me at the interval - he had turned up completely unaware that I was playing that night. He was mightily impressed and has been spreading the word through the office today...flattering in an embarrassing kinda way
  2. Turned on the 'one touch' compressor on my ABM by mistake on gig...just sucked everything out of my sound! Never touched it since...either by accident or intent!
  3. I've just managed to score one on shop-2-rock's eBay store for the princely sum of £336 shipped from Germany. The deal was so hot it sell-combusted! Now I just need to get a 2nd 2x10 and we're good to go! Bye bye ABM C115 combo.
  4. Sorry FlatEric - it's entirely coincidental I can assure you! Check out the website - plenty of gigs over the next few months...I'm sure our paths will cross at some point.
  5. Having decided to postpone world domination until we conquer the East Midlands, Think Lizzy are appearing at The Stumble Inn, Long Eaton, Nottingham NG10 1FJ on Saturday 14th November, Pop along to hear lots of well known and some not quite so well known tunes from the great Irish rockers - starts 9:15
  6. Had a great gig at Ilkeston's The Davey Lamp. Plenty of social media and press coverage leading up to this one lead to a full venue with standing room only! As ever, the well known material went down a treat but the lesser known tracks were greeted enthusiastically too with plenty of folks having a good boogie/air guitar - even had a couple of 'crutch guitar' moments too! All in all a great night!
  7. Black Stone Cherry with support from the fantastic Shinedown and Halestorm
  8. Alice Cooper and Motley Crue at Manchester last night - both bands are pure theatre and the quality of AC's current touring line up was exceptional.
  9. Have been hankering after another T/b since I sold mine...will someone please buy this and stop me from getting it!
  10. Our planned world domination of all things Rock & Irish remains firmly rooted in the Midlands again this week - damn!. If you're local then why not treat yourself to beer and support your live music venues whilst enjoying a selection of Phil and company's finest tunes at The Davy Lamp. The Triangle, Ilkeston DE7 4AP - gig starts around 9:15(is!)
  11. I'm a sweaty oaf and tend to drop them. I'm also a clumsy oaf so have half a dozen on a pick holder on my mic boom...theory is I can grab at least one!
  12. We're plying our trade in Chesterfield once more - come along and hear your favorite Thin Lizzy tunes at The County Music Bar, Saltergate, Chesterfield S40 1JS from around 9:00pm
  13. I've sung lead in pretty much every band I've been in, frequently as a guitarist rather than a bass player, However, as I'm currently playing the part of Phil Lynott it's a given I have to play and sing!
  14. I'm really surprised by some of the comments as I don't think I've used a cable since the mid-90's!
  15. A clean Limelight - where does that put me?
  16. A new venue for us - The Crown Inn, Derbyshire. We turned up to a see small stage area but even after sound checking the room was still worrying emptry at 8:30. We need not have worried - come 9:00 it was pretty full and ready to be entertained with a steady flow of new arrivals suring the first set. It turns out that we got the timings wrong - started the first set earlier than usual for the venue (we should have checked!) so finished earlier than anticipated. For fear of losing the crowd we kicked off the 2nd set at 10:25 not the venue's usual (10:45) and recycled some of the first set (a lot of folks turned up towards the end of the set expecting us to be just about starting!) Upshot was a great gig (if a long night), loads of positive comments (even got favourably compared to Limehouse Lizzy - result!) and three return bookings for 2016 - job done!
  17. We're back at it this weekend belting out the Lizzy classics @ The Crown Inn, Heanor, Derbyshire DE75 7AH from 9:00pm or so
  18. Dep'd for a mate's band at a wedding - at least I got the setlist a couple of weeks beforehand but there were still a few changes of keys to sort out. We had a couple of runs through the set in the afternoon and went for it! Had an absolute blast - not what Id usually play and nice to be set free from the vocal duties for a gig too
  19. Sat 9th May - The Whetmore Whistle, Burton Upon Trent [attachment=194119:150509 - Whetmore Whistle - - 008.jpg][attachment=194120:150509 - Whetmore Whistle - - 009.jpg][attachment=194121:150509 - Whetmore Whistle - - 033.jpg][attachment=194122:150509 - Whetmore Whistle - - 038.jpg] [attachment=194123:150509 - Whetmore Whistle - - 039.jpg][attachment=194124:150509 - Whetmore Whistle - - 050.jpg][attachment=194125:150509 - Whetmore Whistle - - 029.jpg]
  20. After a few weeks off Think Lizzy return to live action on Saturday 13th June 2015 – The Grouse, Chesterfield, S40 2AR
  21. My CBS era Limelight Precision replica and early 80's Tokai Hardpuncher
  22. 2 x YOB ('66) Precisions, one of which is (just about!) affordable...bugger!
  23. As it says on the tin - Think Lizzy are heading into deepest Burton for a night of twin-guitar Irish rock at The Whetmore Whistle on Sat 9th May. From 9:00pmsh!
  24. Had a most surreal rehearsal - well...you need a crowd for it to be a gig, right? You have to wonder at the intelligence of a venue that has a "band fest" planned as an outdoor event with no indoor contingency for the likelihood of the British weather! Whilst the bands were kept nice and dry under a marquee, the punters had to endure rain and wind in coats or under brollies ergo most of them stayed indoors! Still...ever the consummate pros we played for the odd punter that wandered out now and again...and incurred the wrath of the landlord by playing on his bouncy castle! It was different and will no doubt go down as one of the more strange gigs I've ever played with one Thin Lizzy fan choosing our set for us as he felt like!
