1. Silvertone 1490 I think - read this http://www.offsetguitars.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=46863
2. Great stuff. If more people made music, there'd be fewer to make war...
3. What the actual f**k?!
4. Sounds suspicious to me as well, why offer free delivery for one but not the other?
5. ... I wonder if they've bothered to check the battery?
6. Raiders of the lost sarc(asm)?
7. @bassatnight - I've just noticed the three fretless basses you already have and I can't imagine bettering them even with the Fender P bass - you must seriously be into the 'mwah'!!!
8.
Bridge-schmidge, on a fretless it's far more about setup - especially string height - the quality and integrity of the board, the strings, and most important of all, your fingers. Don't waste your money on a new bridge, I recall Jaco using a BBOT and not having too many complaints?
+1 to this, you're going to have deeper string slots in the nut and with no frets plus less relief in the neck you need a bridge that lets you get the saddles nice and low. You might buy a high mass bridge, find the baseplate is too thick and the saddles bottoming out.

Bridges

Can you relocate the bridge maybe 1/2" (or even just 1/4") further back? I guess it depends how far along their intonation adjustment screws the other saddles are...
10. I'm waiting for a huge stone ball to come rolling into view...
11. Fender flats here as well, I like their sound and feel and they're not expensive.
12. Here's all the data on basswood http://www.wood-database.com/lumber-identification/hardwoods/basswood/ - the area it performs less well in is hardness (so dents rather more easily than other tonewoods).
13.
Methinks steaming would be a big no no. Dampening a wood that's spent a year in Fodera's wood files drying out would be disrespectful. The only thing I could think of was the absolute tiniest smidge of T-cut to see if that did anything
I'm talking damp cloth and a warm iron for a few seconds (which is how I got some dings out of my swamp ash bodied Cort fretless) and I did say ask Fodera (to see whether the black pigment is water soluble or not - I'd imagine not). I wouldn't go near it with any cutting compound.
14. I imagined that the black part of those YY Foderas was a stained finish - maybe Fodera can advise over how best to lessen surface scratches/indentations (like steaming out)?
15. Q to winterfire666; did you choose the reverse P configuration due to the depth of the neck pocket (possible problems with siting the EA split pickup in a conventional P bass manner) or because you prefer the reward placement with more harmonic content nearer the bridge?
16. Well, the mix of harmonics seen in various positions is about the only thing I can think of that has any bearing on why a Jazz bass neck pickup sounds different to the bridge pickup and those differences are maintained across various fretting points.
17. Just found this post with a range of pickup placement measurements and their relationship with string vibration modes http://basschat.co.uk/topic/208369-pickup-placement-and-string-vibrationharmonics/
18. According to this it appears to be 11 3/4" from the 12th fret to the split between the two halves of the pickup http://www.talkbass....-pickup-314560/ Late in the day edit: I didn't read your question correctly because the above measurement relates to the neck pickup rather than bridge position. Sorry
19. The tuning pegs are going to hide most of the flaws in that veneer aren't they?
20. Well, I just found this and really pleased I did - David Byrne back in 1997 http://youtu.be/DUiUx4c6Imk
21. I've got some Rotosound nickel roundwounds (RS66LDN) on one of my basses and like them.
22. The address label (normally inside a plastic pouch on the box) usually has a sales invoice behind it so check that. Try to get a couple of photos of the areas of concern and have those ready to email to their customer services department in case they ask for them. Camera phones usually focus quite close up so should be ideal for your needs.
23. Middle one.
24. You might reduce some of that headstock dent by steaming it out (damp cloth, warm iron job). I hope you get a bit of a discount for that!
