Loaner bass - modified Yamaha Attitude LTD II
Ramsay777 replied to Chris2112's topic in Bass Guitars
Always thought these basses looked so good. The addition of a bridge pickup is a fantastic choice imo, it'll be a versatile beast with all those options! -
Just the other day I came to the realisation that thinner picks are a lot less taxing on the wrist and fingers, I switched from using 1.14mm Tortex III's (my favourite for playing guitar) to using 0.60mm Dunlop Grips, I think they sound great and the grip portion definitely seems effective.

Bringing this back from the dead; Paul's just stuck a video on his Instagram playing a Fireman Bass. https://www.instagram.com/p/C_hBo_FPkhx/?igsh=aTl3ODU3OGtka3h5 Looks neck-through and surely versatile with the wide pickup spacing - I'd buy one!

The Pro series will be made in Japan from what I gather (and priced accordingly!) Think there's more budget friendly ones available but maybe not these models.

Very nicely done! Looks like a cool bass, short scale?

Saw these a while ago, don't think they've been posted here. https://www.instagram.com/ariaguitars?igsh=MXEzOGQxcXMxb20zcg== Big fan of the 80s Japanese thing but im pretty sure I saw the SB1000 was around the £2500 mark.

Couple quick photos of this Japanese Reissue I picked up on here this week - reversed Geddy? Been after a nice clean one for a while that hasn't been drilled for a bridge cover. Already upgraded with a nice Gotoh bridge and Seymour Duncans, plays great!

Only become a naff name after they decided to call their import range the same, crazy move. 😂 I love my Sterling, cracking neck and a wide array of tones with the dual humbucker set-up.

Can anyone tell me if the Cab Sim can be used on the headphone out? Or is it only on the DI? Can't find it online on the manuals etc. Im looking for an all-in-one solution for practice, currently using the SGT-DI but im considering swapping for a Darkglass.
-
If you google "Fender Fever reviews" you'll get some feedback. I emailed them/him about something a while back and didn't like his tone so I left it.

Grainger make really nice stuff! Is it bolt-on or neck-through?
-
I don't think they've been released yet. Im keeping an eye out, there was a little bit of discussion in the Ashdown ABM thread. They look great, seem to sound good and have some very useful features over an ABM.

Not to clutter the ABM thread too much with this but I am sold tbh. I currently just have an ABM 410 that I run a GenzBenz through, would love an ABM head but i'd miss a lot of the things the GB can do with regards to home playing, quiet practice etc. The new RM feels like a great option for me wanting to scratch the Ashdown itch!
-
The new RM looks great! Always though the previous ones looked fugly. Cab sim is a great addition. The previous RMs had a headphone jack? Hopefully this is the same and would make for a great head for home and gigging...

Did anyone here actually buy a EBMM Joe Dart?
Ramsay777 replied to fretmeister's topic in Bass Guitars
An incredibly bland one at that, EBMM have lost the plot on pricing. -
Looks absolutely amazing. A gamechanger imo, would love to try one.

Can anyone explain the Musicman Stingray series to me?
Ramsay777 replied to Minininjarob's topic in Bass Guitars
I've never played a H model Musicman but I can highly recommend going for a HH. My main bass is a Sterling USA 4HH and every position on the 5 way switch is very usable - add in the 3 band EQ and it's fit for pretty much any sound. Can get very close to a J or a P imo (purists may disagree) The 4HH is rare as hen's teeth nowadays, I've been hoping to pick up another and haven't found anything in many months. Calling their budget range "Sterling" is a crazy shout. -
Headphones for practice and general listening at home.
Ramsay777 replied to Ramsay777's topic in General Discussion
Thanks for all the suggestions folks, i've been checking them out. I think closed-back are going to be the most suitable for my current set-up although it does seem that some folk run a pair of them AND a pair of open-back depending... I've got stretched ear lobes so I reckon on-ears won't sit great or maybe even get a bit uncomfortable. The DT770s keep cropping up, they're priced well too so im gonna give them a spin, courtesy of Santa. Might even venture into trying a set of open-back in the future... Cheers! -
Found myself going down the rabbit hole here, looking for some thoughts and advice. Currently using an Ampeg SGT-DI for headphone practice regularly and I'm finding my current headphones to be lacking a bit - they're Audio Technica ATH-M20x, which are fairly entry-level at £50. They seem to distort quite easily and bass response is poor, if I EQ more in they tend to get "mushy". They aren't very comfortable for long periods either. Could my distortion problem be due to using active basses? I've got a Musicman Sterling and Fender Jazz with a J-Retro, if that's the case then I need a pair that can handle a hotter signal. Audio-Technica ATH-M50x seem to come up often but I'm a bit put off after using the lesser model. Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro also seem to be popular. Budget of around £200, maybe a bit more, i'm sure I can pick up a nice upgrade for that?

Bought an OC5 from Danny - spot on to deal with, no dramas at all.

Love a good refurb! I know nothing about these amps but it's cleaned up really well - hope it works 😂
