"If it's cheap, it's probably crap"

Maybe an acquired taste with the pointy headstock but im all for some well-spec'd Japanese basses. https://volaguitars.com/products/zva-4p-mf?variant=43949726728448 https://youtu.be/wXllC-pT1g8?si=V1cPdpnA8_r9yXm-

Ian Allison has nearly had me sold on. HX Stomp numerous times but the reality is i'll probably get lost in all the features and lose interest. Not too keen on the idea of having to use an app or PC to get the most of of my effects either, fair play to the folk that do though!

Bought this a while ago with the intention of turning it into a project but I've had another idea. She's well used, plenty buckle rash and some dings around the edge of the body, neck and headstock. H/st Decal's peeling away and the gloss finish has flaked off in places on the neck. I planned on having the body refinished and fitting a Player Series neck but that's up to the next owner... Mods were done before I came along - Been converted to a PJ (clean job and the pickguard fits well), Badass II Bridge, Schaller Tuners, Seymour Duncans and aftermarket chrome knobs. Kind of hard to price as it's far from immaculate but there's some solid parts fitted, definitely open to hearing offers. Better photos in daylight tomorrow, cheers!

This is a cracking story - looks like it was well looked after over the years too?

Not my kind of thing but he is an incedible player, blows my mind how folk can play unlined fretless full stop, nevermind the pace that he plays

It's a bombsite just now but the SGT-DI, MXR M82, Giygas and OC-5 have all arrived in the last month or so and i've been trialing things out, enjoying them all so far. Fancying a 2 channel dist/boost on to replace the Nano Batallion and i'll commit to getting things stuck down and patched up neatly.

I've only had a quick play with the M82 but im not totally sold tbh 😂 3rd EF and im starting to think they ain't for me. Gonna look for some suggested settings, not sure my EBMM Sterling's red-hot output is helping either. There's an EBS listed in the classifieds that I might check out as a last hoorah... Been looking at the EBS cables, dearer than some but you get what you pay for with these things. I got the SGT mainly as a headphone set-up so it's placed at the end of my chain so I can run all my effects through to my headphones. Cracking bit of kit, if I gig again im sure it'll make an appearance for that too!

I've barely spent any time in my musicroom this year with other commitments going on. Getting back into it lately and i've been on a big purge with pedals. Punted a TC Spark, T-Rex Quint Machine, EHX Green Russian Nano, Valeton OC10 thanks to the classifeds on here, few more to go! So far they've gone towards bringing in a Boss OC-5 and an Ampeg SGT-DI... with a Catalinbread Giygas Fuzz and MXR Envelope Filter en route from reverb. Photos to follow when I get my more all hooked up again. Any recommendations for patch cables, specifically the low-profile type?

Just had a quick hour or so messing around with my EBMM Sterling and some headphones, very pleased with first impressions! Stock cab IRs will do me nicely and the SVT and B15 both sound great. SGT is a bit harsh but if you go easy with the Grit it it's definitely useable - the Sterling's a rather bright and lively instrument already so that will be a big factor here too. I imagine you could bump the grit up with a passive bass and get better results. It'll mainly be used as a (rather extravagant) practice tool for me but it'll definitely get a spin if I play live again in the future, or if I ever get the time rattle out a few covers for the 'gram. Cheers guys!

How are you guys rating the Forty Eight? Out of nowhere I've found myself fancying one. When I first saw them years ago I didn't like the look of the upper fret access (who needs to go past the 15th anyway?!) and the fact it was bolt-on, but that's just me being a bit weird. Seems like having the neck set so far into the body helps with the neckdive that this sort of shape usually brings? Some positive reviews on youtube.

I delayed on this... and missed out 😂 Payday though and i've taken the punt on a new one from Guitarguitar, sold a couple pedals to take the sting out of it! Looking forward to giving it a blast when it's home.

Personally have limited experience with them but I felt the Aguilar Filter Twin was a big let down. Keeping an eye on this thread for some ideas...
