1. The type of cab will play a massive part in how loud the amp sounds.
2. Retro Six12, staggered drivers to keep the width at 600mm but 400mm deep so the height doesn't get the better of it. I'll pay up front!
3. Very good condition with high quality padded covers. 15" woofer, 6.5" mid and 1" CD. 1000 watts RMS. 4. I have a rule that I apply to all my musical equipment, It's only ever stored in an environment that I would be comfortable enduring myself.
5. I bought one of these new about five years ago for £1200, I ran it for two years (longest time I've ever kept a cab) I'd say it's one of the best sealed cabs out there. B&C drivers if I remember. Highly recommended and a good price. Free bump.
6.
I'm 99% certain that what you've experienced is subconscious user bias. At lower levels you won't hear any difference if the 4 and 8 versions are essentially identical. It's placebo effect.
Room positioning will make a difference, for example if one of the is closer to a wall, try swapping them over and have another listen.
7.
Not a behemoth, but a 1x15. I love the tone of 15s for bass. Appreciate all the technical arguments about 12s being as good, but they just don't sound the same for me.
Never worry about the driver size, you either like the cab or you don't.
8. One of the best big valve heads available in very good condition with new valves throughout. The logo lights up green. Comes with Roqsolid cover.
9. In most situations choosing the right cab is more important than the head.
10.
Thats lovely, are the tuners original?
As far as I know yes.
11.
Wish I hadn't of seen this!! Fantastic bit of kit!
You and me both Jim!
12. She weighs around 10lbs. The nut measures 43mm neck width, with the strings at a spacing of 35mm between E and G. The pickup positioning is slightly further back than that of a Precision.
13. This bass plays and sounds as good as any bass I've owned. It's in great shape for a thirty year old instrument with just minor surface marks and the odd very small chip. The frets are are in very good order and the neck's spot on. Sound wise I'd call it plummy with a bit of zing. Hard to find these days, these American made Peavey's are a bit of a secret weapon. Priced to sell.
14.
The 450 was the first Ampeg I played through, and it was at a festival, and I really liked the sound on stage a lot. However, now I've tried the VST and CL too. I'm afraid the 450 is just a taste of that Ampeg sound that you're clearly won over by - it's not bad at all for a wholly solid state amp - but after a while you'll want more of that tone and there's only one place to get it in spades. It's not cheap and it's not lightweight either. It's a bit like having a real fresh ground coffee vs freeze dried instant. Your first ever cup of coffee may have been an instant, and it tasted good until one day someone gave you a proper cup of fresh coffee. After that, an instant might wake you up a bit with a caffiene hit, but you won't be savouring the flavour, you'll just be wondering where the nearest coffee shop is.
Nice analogy.
15. Nice one Jim, looks like a real sphincter soother. By the way the head's sat crooked.
