1. In my opinion there is only one 'real Ampeg tone' and that's the 300 watt valve head going through the 8x10, even other SVT cabs like the 610 and 410 don't give you 'that' sound because the cabinet design is completely different (they are ported, but the 810 is four sealed 2x10 chambers). Playing in front of that rig is what every bass player should do at least once in there lives.
 2. I've owned or played just about every Ampeg SVT and to my ears the 450 is by far the worst. In a word, 'Bland'.
 3.

Hi Bob. Is there an amp that hasn't graced your bass stable? I'd love to try one of these.

Not many. How are are you treating my Baby?
 4. Up for sale my Mesa Prodigy in mint condition as it's done little work. It comes with Mesa cover and all original packaging. 250 watts, all valve and it's awesome. 5. Stoney bought my G&L SB1. A pleasant and trustworthy chap.
 6. I would't be without mine, I originally bought it as a back up to my big valve heads but often find myself using it as a first choice. Free bump.
 7.
Lovin' that, what does it weigh?
9.5 lbs (ish)
 8. A great vintage bass from G&L when Leo Fender still had a hand in things. This is how Leo thought the Precision design should end up. It's in good condition for it's age with the odd chip and mark here and there but it's all natural and looks the part with minimal fret wear. She plays like a dream and is super powerful for a passive instrument with tone in buckets. Comes with hard case. 9. Hi end, clean but with attitude. It oozes quality, you can emulate many different amps with it, but no dirt, but that does allow you to choose your own overdrive sound with your favorite pedal if required, rather than having to put up with the inherent overdrive sound of the amp, which may not be to your taste.
 10.
Bump. Now will consider Tecamps, MarkBass, Gallien-Krueger in exchange.
How about an Eden WT800c
 11.
How about an isobaric 8 X 10?
12.
Yes, his pickups sound (and look) 100% 'authentic' if you want to call it that...
He doesn't wind his own pickups, they are cheaply made and of far eastern origin. Not a great lot of winding's and a magnet glued to the bottom. That said, they do sound good, however I replaced mine with first, a SD 'Hot for P bass' which gave the Limelight some more low end and then finally a BK 65 split which just gave it a quality and richness it didn't have with the original pups. In my opinion, I made a great bass better.
 13.
what kind of ballpark figure will a limelight bass set me back?
£795
 14.
Bob, just had a thought - you might want to try blocking the hybrid resonator's port on the bottom of the cab. A rolled up t-shirt will do the job (that's what I used in testing), just make sure it's a tight fit! This will reduce the output in the lows and also cause the cab to overdrive sooner. You may find that this is the best way to use the cab for all your indoor gigs if you want that extra growl - then outdoors take advantage of the extra output and power handling from the hybrid resonator.
I don't have a problem with the RS10, I love it, I was just trying to describe the initial differences I heard. It's interesting what you say about the hybrid resonator and the T shirt, perhaps an 'adjustable port' might give owners some degree of flexibility in fine tuning the lows, great for improving boomy stages.
