1.
How do you know they are non-musicians?
I don't know for absolute certain but I'm going to go with the latter option of the interviewer probably not being a musician. The purpose of this section of the interview is to demonstrate your dexterity by whatever means you feel is best. Of course, playing bass is the best option!
2. It's not too bad trying to find material to impress other bassists and perhaps to a minor degree, other musicians. How about impressing non-musicians? I've got an interview for a dental university and surprise, surprise - I've got to take my bass up to show dexterity. I was originally set on doing the Michael Jackson track 'Speed Demon'. Anyone who's played that can testify as to how difficult the 32nd note flurry on the chorus is. Maybe not... All of this leads me to wonder - what would you play to impress a stranger who's probably not a musician? I'm thinking of going for groove rather flash.
3. Who here is a vocalist as well as a bassist? I'm trying to propel myself into the realm of this uncommon duality and I'm sure it'd be very inspiring to see who here pulls it off.
4. 956. Count in 16th notes, don't think about rushing or dragging and you should be gravy.
5. Norm Stockton has a bunch of awesome DVDs out. I learned loads from them!
6. I have to politely disagree with the folks on Audacity and put in a vote for Reaper.
7.
Watch this, especially from about 8:30 onwards. https://youtu.be/XqBRxu21oZc
Can't recommend this enough. I was in the audience and my playing was twice as good afterwards for it.
8. When playing in a band, in comparison to your tone at home, do you change your amp settings to accommodate for various external factors such as the tone of the kick drum, the venue and all sorts? I'm trying to find the best sound that compliments that rest of the band. I always find myself asking the drummer to play 4 to the floor on the kick to change my tone that makes us as a rhythmic duo sound better, even if it's a sound I'm not amazingly fond of when I'm playing on my own. Anyone else like that at all?

10. Just a question, what's the set up to record the video properly?
11. Any chance on shipping at all?
12. Subscribed, fellow Sussex man! Also, any chance of some upright covers?
13.
Wow! Big Al in a retro space robot stylee!!
I think it looks awesome, frankly. I'm tempted to get something similar for the Bongo but am not particularly sure where to start.
14. Let's get this started. Does anyone here have any funky looking scratchplates on their basses? I'm thinking of getting one done for my Bongo. Let's see what y'all have!
15. Any chance on shipping at all? If so, I'd be interested.
16. A bit of a split in regards to the metronome here. Think of it like you're using stabilisers on a bike, you don't see the likes of Bradley Wiggins and co relying upon them. 4 to the floor is great to improving technique but relying upon it too much makes your groove a bit stiff and robotic. A click on the 2 and 4 of each bar? Absolutely. As music is an organically expression, you need to give the exertion space to breath rather than relying on it being 4 to the floor all of the time. By using the combination of two, you'll have the cleanliness of the 4 beat and the fluidity of the 2 beat. Hope it helps!
17. Since I can't nab this one for myself, y'all should check Ebay for this. Someone's going to get a cracking deal. Good luck on the sale, physcoandy.
18. Trades an option here at all?
19. +1 for this guy. Excellent to deal with and a thoroughly nice guy.
20. If only I didn't have an open day to attend to. I wish you all an awesome day.
21. As I was entering this dinky, little second hand shop in Worthing, I noticed a small Peavey Backstage (Made in USA) combo going for £50. Albeit, it was intended to be a guitar combo, it prompted me to think what other hiddens gems that may lay dormant in shops such as the one I entered. Does anyone own any of the old US Peavey stuff? If so, what do you make of it? I get the impression that they're built to last.
22. Truthfully, it be fine. I came VERY close to filling out an F1/M1 visa and that wasn't as painful as I expected. Just expect a trip up to the embassy with little notice.
