1. Horrible. Then again, the texture on the back of the neck does look rather appealing!
2. There's something a bit 'quacky' about the tones. I know that's rich coming from a guy whose exclusively plays a Musicman and all...
3. ...I'd love to be proven wrong. Most of the times I've tried a Jazz bass out of some variety, I've always hit a wall with their tone. What would you say are the iconic tones of this bass in particular? Jaco is the only one that comes to mind for me, unfortunately.
4. Perfect! I love this place sometimes.
5. I'm also interested in part exchanges too. Cash and an amp? Why not try me and see what happens.
6.
I went into a very well known Exeter guitar shop a few weeks back and was a little taken aback by how little bass gear they had. To make matters worse the 'room' had been reduced by 30% since I'd been there last. The basses were ok in general, but the amp selection was dreadful. It was even worse in the other music shop in Exeter. The bass gear is right at the top of the building, in a shabby room in the eves. The selection of gear was poor and the manner in which it had been put on display even worse. Bass dedicated shops are too far off, even for a day trip, for me.
I have an idea of which shop that could very well be. I laughed when they were charging £3,200 for a Zon that was worth about £2,000 or so. I'm betting it's still there too.
7.
Rockabilly drag triplets with the upright....but then again, I havent put the necessary hours in either.....
I tried adapting this to the electric bass with no success. Impossible or perhaps a potentially sweet idea, do you reckon?
8. Have you tried the Facebook groups? That would go within hours on there. PM me and I'd be happy to help you out.
9.
This is maybe more a style thing rather than technique, but one I can't do either , we had to play it for 4 weeks at uni, I was truly hopeless at it. Have to say though that reggae is something I never listen to, so that's maybe got something to do with it.
That's true! I found getting the feel Latin and learning to smash it on the '4' of each bar was actually much easier than the typical reggae stuff. No matter how much I try and drag it, it still sounds like I'm Boris Johnson on bass.
10. Reggae playing. I walk on bass at a Jazz jam, play Latin stuff pretty decently and pull off your typical 16th note funk stuff. Reggae, though? Not a chance. I can't quite nail the feel and I don't think I'd go quite as far as one could probably imagine to nail the authenticity.

13. Karl, if you're going into depping work and such, I'd thoroughly recommend going through the websites of all of the functions bands and find a general pattern. Try and learn a bunch of songs from a certain era in a day as you'll find some of the 50s stuff, for example, to follow some sort of permutation of the same Latin influenced rhythm as well as a lot of chord tones. Grouping them by association makes the process SO much quicker!
14. Completed a trade with Sammy. Real stellar guy and nothing short of fantastic to deal with!
15. We've dodged 'Sex on Fire' so far, thank goodness.

20. You can either keep the Ritter Cora or have a night with Rita Ora. The choice is yours but choose wisely!
