Got really excited when I read this. My dream bass is a Warwick star bass, but unsurprisingly I can't afford one. So I checked the price list, and the cheapest pro series star bass is €3117. Gutted

Stunning! Does it neck dive much? What kind of finish is it - nitro?
-
I like the white blonde with maple AND the 3 colour sunburst with rosewood.
There's a new sunburst in Sounds Live for £799
I saw that, I want to so badly!!!
Incorrect.
Dislike.

I prefer the 55-01 personally, would stick some nordy big splits in one!
-
If you're into yellow basses, then you'll love these Dingwall basses!
-
Wow stunning! That's got the darkglass preamp right? How is it playing with fanned frets?
-
Nice. That's essentially how I'd use them, only without the b3k. I've got pedal envy hahaha

Thanks man. Damn it, now 'm even more interested

About bloody time! I HATE that bridge; part of the reason I'll be selling my epi t-bird at some point. Until looking just now, didn't realise how much had been change on the 2015 thunderbird. Like the new bridge, and the change of pickups is interesting. Even though I've just said I'll be selling my thunderbird, I'd be interested in getting one of these - if the price wasn't so high! Also, am I missing something with the switches? You have a volume control for each pickup, then the switches that activate/de-activate each pickup. How pointless is that?! It's adding an extra feature for the sake of it.

Well there has to be something wrong with the op, because stingrays are awesome In all seriousness though my 4hh is a keeper for life. My next bass will be a p bass, but if/when I start looking for a fiver, would be a toughie deciding between an sr5 and a classic 5. I actually love the look of the standard 'ray, and like having both pups in a stingray, but then the ocd in me would really appreciate the oval pickguard o the classic (pathetic I know). But all that's only if I went for a musicman - like the look of the G&L L2500 and the Spector Euro 5LX, and the Lakland 55-01. I just have bad GAS ok - don't judge me!
I have a B7K and the VT Bass DI and the latter would be far more suited to you Cal from what you are saying. However, if you fancy a bit of Darkglass thunder then the VMT Deluxe would be an ace choice too. You get what you pay for
Nice - looking to get these two at some point (when I have the money!). I'm planning on using the vt di for amp emulation/ a slightly warm sound, then the b7k for all-out drive. How do you use them?

Finger player learning to use a pick
Guinness21 replied to Guinness21's topic in Theory and Technique
Thanks for all the advice, some really helpful stuff here. Think I'll dedicate a day to watching all the videos, trying everything suggested and just concentrate on playing with a pick. -
I've been playing bass about 2 years, but interested in learning to play some faster stuff so think i could benefit from playing with a pick. I'm not an amazingly-quick learner by any means, but for some reason it's just not going in. Sat down I'm having a lot more success - I place the side of my hand right on top of the string saddles. It's not perfect though - I can't quite pluck the E string as well. Stood up is another matter. I know in theory, your bass should just hang sat down then it will be in the same place stood up. But I'm a tall guy and I feel silly, so I set it lower - not punk low, but low enough that I can almost straighten my right arm when playing. Yet to find an anchor for my picking hand stood up, but whenever I try the pick hits the strings at an angle and produces a nasty sound. So can anyone help? Do I just keep moving around til I find something that feels right? Anyone in the same predicament as me? Please help!

They are killer bass, I think they'd be great for metal! Was set to buy one of these, before I'd tried a stingray. Not mad on the looks though. GASing really badly after the 1400 in the new colours - deep rose flat and deep ocean flat!
-
The svt-7-pro and pf800 seem pretty similar, which would be better?
-
I'm so gutted Fender discontinued gb. I'd buy a shuttle 9.2 in a heart beat if I could

TC Electronic is definately better than Markbass !!
Guinness21 replied to cliffyspliff's topic in Amps and Cabs
I don't understand how so many people use TC when they've lied about the power output of their amps?! -
TC Electronic is definately better than Markbass !!
Guinness21 replied to cliffyspliff's topic in Amps and Cabs
Got to agree with the above. I've gone from Markbass to TC and then back again. When I originally bought my Markbass head I chose the MoMark (http://www.markbass....tail.php?id=212) over the LM3 due to the aesthetics and modular design. I don't love the yellow knobs but they are easy to see in a gig situation. I really like the feature set and aesthetics of the RH450 but, for me, the Markbass sound has won over the RH450 twice now despite the amps not being as good to look at (IMO).
How are you liking the momark? I'm only at the looking phase, but I like the look of the LMT 800. -
I'd invest in a top spec rig over a ridiculously over-priced bass any day of the week. Essentially a £300 bass does the same things as a £3000 bass. A £3000 bass will not make you sound better if you're a sh*tty musician too. Truckstop
+1.

If there aren't any pictures it didn't happen!

Gallien Krueger rb700mk2 or Orange Terror Bass 500
Guinness21 replied to funkyjimbob's topic in Amps and Cabs
Don't know much about how the Orange sounds, but for me there's just too much clank baked into the tone of the GK.
