  1. Obviously he's promised the wife he'll sell it if she lets him have another bass !
  2. Just made me a purple pearl pickguard for a guitar - it was £75 but worth every penny. Would definitely use them again.
  3. Insanely low price for a bass of this quality . Have a bump !
  4. Got to agree - as I said earlier it has outlived my Shukers, ACG's, Overwaters, Maruszycks which says a lot. I was sickened recently as I try and keep all my basses absolutely pristine and the Lodestone was a shining example - I was up in the loft and the glass shade fell off the light straight through the hatch and put a ding in the body 🤢
  5. The fretmarkers look like prawns !
  6. The headstock is the best bit !
  7. i contacted them and they said they are just ex demo. I've got one of the Primal Artists (cost me £1200) - and it has outlasted every other bass in my armoury. It's a lovely bass (marmite design especially the headstock ) - could do with better shielding but other than that I love it.

  11. I got mine new on offer in Dawsons for £380 - think I sold it used for more.
  12. Cool - thanks for the info. I've owned one before but was completely oblivious - bought it 'cos Mani was using one for the Stone Roses comeback !
  13. Dawson's were pretty good on price and would generally match any online prices you could find in store. I think the quality of guitars from the big manufacturers particularly at the lower end has improved exponentially in recent years giving us the faith to order online and know that the thing that arrives is probably going to be playable with a little bit of tinkering.(I've has some amazing cheap ibanez's of late) I think the 2nd hand market is probably bigger too and it is possible to pick up something £100's or even £1000's cheaper than a new item in excellent condition ( like the Shuker 😀)
  14. Yes definitely changing times. One of the other music shops in Liverpool - Curly music has changed their model and moved to higher end gear. This seemed to work for our favourite luthiers who all hiked the prices as we hit austerity and still have very long waiting times.
  15. Very true !
  16. I spend far too much time trawling ebay looking at basses and guitars so I'm pretty much clued in to the rough value of most things. What puzzles me is why old basses seem to command a premium. I get it with the 60's and 70's Fenders or if you want an authentic period instrument, but why are people paying top dollar for budget basses that were poor in the 80's and haven't got any better with 40 years of damage ? Surely the money would be better spent on a new bass which given the vastly improved manufacturing processes and tolerances will play and sound much better ? Is it just nostalgia ? Discuss......
  17. I've got a bad feeling about Dawsons Liverpool too . I go in there all of the time, the staff are great but there is a stock clearance on at the moment and there just seems like too little gear in there given the size of the store. Really hope my fear is unfounded.
  18. Love this -it would so match my Warwick ! Have a bump on me !
  19. A cricket bat crossed with a Kubicki !
  20. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ibanez-Axstar-bass/223445476589?hash=item34066364ed:g:eQUAAOSw-YVcfAYW Really like the look of this but its collection only and nowhere near me.🙁 What's it worth ?
