1. We've decided to go for it and my Elwood Absolution fretless is winging its way over from the Netherlands as we speak ! Reinier suggested sending his bass first as I had feedback on here with me then sending mine back when I've confirmed everything is o.k. This was a great leap of faith on his part and I completely applaud him for it. Hopefully our respective couriers don't let us down.
2. In my last foreign deal on here I agreed to meet a seller from France at St Pancras - he was getting the Eurostar. I booked my train ticket from Liverpool and then he backed out leaving me out of pocket for the cost of the ticket. Previously I'd sent a £2k guitar to Estonia which got stuck in an airport because of snow - the buyer had paid up front so it must have been quite a scary wait for him. I'm extremely wary having had a bad experience with a local BC'er this week.
3. Hi, I'm just discussing a potential trade with a BC newbie with no feedback outside the UK. Both basses involved in the deal would cost over £1000 new . Just wondering if anybody has any advice on what would be a fair and practical arrangement to make this work for both of us if we decide to go ahead ?
4. I'd give it a whirl at £100 .
5. Lovely bass. I'd definitely recommend E-C - just setting up a 6er E-F as my mission for this afternoon.
6. Awesome bass ! Yay.
7. Worst experience I've ever had on Basschat and I've been buying and selling on here for numerous years. Agreed a price and to meet to collect the bass at a service station. Drove 50 minutes to get there only to have a text message to say he'd sold the bass on ebay. I texted to say cancel the ebay transaction as he'd committed to selling me the bass first and also called and but no response so just ended up driving home. I'd been asked to pay by Paypal up front and collect the bass 3 days later which I didn't agree to, Just glad I'm only out of pocket for the petrol money and wasted time. I could have bought the bass on Ebay but went through BC to save the seller incurring any fees - lesson learned ! Did I mention I'm not happy ?
8. Agreed to buy bass off seller - made arrangements for collection at a service station- drove 50 minutes to pick it up got there and had received text to say he'd sold it on ebay, Texted and called and got no response so drove home. What a complete waste of a night. I didn't bid on ebay thinking I'd save him having to pay fees. A valuable lesson learnt,
9. The plot thickens......
10. "An ATK would be closer, but I think that is much more like a musicman" Just picked up an ATK300 - lovely bass - my obsession with all things Ibby continues....
11. Any trade or trade +cash options ?
12. That is awesome - and local ! Just sold a mountain bike which would have bought me it but have promised the Mrs. the money for a bathroom refurb.
13. Seller got back in touch with the details and it was a BC'er so I feel embarassed now for being so impatient.
14. Cheers ped - glad something is in the pipeline.
15. Now gassing for an SR756 - any possibility of me finding a used one do you think ?
16. That sounds very sensible ! As we now pay to use the marketplace (my subscription has just expired ) it would be good if we could have some improved functionality which could be considered standard.
17. I quite like the look of this and was tempted yesterday http://www.ebay.co.u...qgAAOSwoRBZqq4- I emailed the seller asking for scale, string spacing ,weight etc. and got no response which put me off. The neck looks nice but doesn't really match the body colour wise and I've got doubts over the wooden bridge. Convince me either way !
