Shaun bought my Line6 foot controller - paid instantly - extremely easy transaction and I would recommend him to other BC'ers.

Cheers for the heads up Musky. I've got other listings on ebay at the moment which are more importatnt so have pulled this bass in case they suspended my selling activity ( despite no mention of Rickenbacker or even the guitar model !)

Anybody know what the issue is with posting these on Ebay. I appreciate Rickenbacker trying to protect their design but surely their argument is with Indie as a manufacturer rather than me as an individual who bought the guitar in good faith from an ebay listing as it happened ! I've had to resort to listing it as a mystery bass but don't know how long it will last until they pull it.

This was a special edition and has a birdseye maple neck and Seymour Duncan pickups and a lovely ash body. Photos to follow. Gets great reviews everywhere. The guitar is in fantastic condition, no chips or dings on the body and neck, just the usual marks from playing on the pickguard. Would prefer collection from Liverpool but I can double box it if you want to arrange your own courier. Check out generic pic of guitar here (PM for more pics (Having upload problems !) This is the silver version not the latest 3rd generation one but in excellent condition. Works like a dream with Garageband on Mac but will also work on PC with the appropriate driver downloadable from the M audio site. I would prefer collection from Liverpool but if you want to arrange a courier to collect it at your own cost I will box it well .

You would think that in the current economic climate, retailers would be falling over themselves to try and win our business but after my own experience with Andertons and having just read another posting on the Bass Gallery that appears not to be the case. I purchased a relativeley cheap guitar from Andertons and made 3 phone calls to check that that the guitar would be delivered yesterday as I was going to need to take a days holiday to ensure I was in to receive it. Of course it did not turn up - apparently the fault was with the warehouse staff . I reluctantly rearranged delivery for today before 12.00 with my wife having taken a days holiday and guess what it still hasn't arrived !No doubt they will blame the courier. I would just cancel the order but it would then be days before the funds would be refunded to my credit card and the guitar is a limited edition and I can't find another for a decent price anywhere in the country. I just hate the fact that poor service like this now seems to have become the norm and it isn't just restricted to online purchases, the stores can be as bad. In my personal experience of the 3 main music Stores in Liverpool City Centre there was only Dolphin (now sadly closed down) who demonstrated any level of customer care at all and that varied with the particular member of staff who served you. Anyway suffice to say I won't be using Andertons ever again.

Like most of us I am forever trawling the basses for sale postings just to see what's out there. Whenever a Wal comes up it seems to be treated like the Holy Grail of basses, commanding serious cash and defying the depreciation associated with most custom basses. Having never played one I often wonder what it is that makes them so special. Some I've seen look absolutely amazing but others look like they have been built with the wood from a 70's wardrobe. How much of the price reflects the collectability of the instrument as opposed to the quality. Do they sound any better than a custom Shuker or ACG ? I hankered after an Akai Deep Impact for so long and when I finally got one I was really disappointed and wondered what the fuss was about. Has anybody bought a Wal and found it has not lived up to their expectations or are they truly the best out there ?

I've sold a lot of gear on here and generally it is an extremely positive experience with a chance to meet with fellow Basschatters. I did have one transaction however whereby I arranged to meet a foreign buyer in London, bought a train ticket for £50 only for him then to back out and leave me high and dry. When I look back I realise how naive I had been and whilst most BCers are thoroughly decent people, there are always exceptions. Just adopt a sensible approach to the deal and don't leave yourself open to any losses should things not work out.

Anything that isn't a Sue Ryder ! -
Just swapped a maple neck for a rosewood on my 'blue' Ryder and it has made a huge difference to how low I can get the action. Anybody else with multiple Ryder necks noticed a difference ? Ed.

Bought a pickup from Chris at a great price and really speedy delivery. Would highly recommend.

The inlays make it look like those Tsai basses you can get from the far east for next to nothing. Does it come with a free car ?

Headphones - are better ones any better?
edstraker123 replied to niceguyhomer's topic in Accessories and Misc
I spent £125 on a set of Audio Tecnicas and £300 on a set of Bose headphones for normal ipad listening. I also compared the Bose to a set of Dr Dre's of a comparable value. While the quality of all of these was good, I don't believe it was enough to warrant the exta expense over my £30 Sennheiser running headphones. The Audio Tecnicas were lacking in bass , Dre's were too bassy and the Bose were closest to what I wanted, but at £300 I expected them to be amazing but they are not, they are just good. If you just had the money to spare I'd go for the headphones, but IMHO I think you will get better value from the combo especially if you can pick up a decent second hand one on here. ( I got a 100w Hartrke for just over £100 and I'd rather have that than any of the headphones above) -
Hi all Ryderites. I noticed a lot of you have fitted Rotosound Trubass nylons. I mention this because I don`t have a SR but do have a Stagg P-bass copy, which sounds ok, that I intend to fit trubass nylons to and go for that dubby dull james jamerson old string vibe. Is this what some of you intend for the Ryders, and is it because you feel it will suit this role more than a bright zingy stringed snapping machine? MM
Hi Monckyman, That's why I fitted the nylons to one of mine (the other has Ernie's) - however I found I liked D'addario black nylon tapewounds much better than the Trubass nylons, obviously down to individual preference but if you are in the market for some I'd check these out. Gallien Krueger fans, have you got an iPad?
edstraker123 replied to Grand Wazoo's topic in Amps and Cabs
Just bought it and it is excellent , much better than amplitube and garage band for bass tones ( as you would expect I suppose). Well worth the £3
