1. I've sold a lot of gear on here and generally it is an extremely positive experience with a chance to meet with fellow Basschatters. I did have one transaction however whereby I arranged to meet a foreign buyer in London, bought a train ticket for £50 only for him then to back out and leave me high and dry. When I look back I realise how naive I had been and whilst most BCers are thoroughly decent people, there are always exceptions. Just adopt a sensible approach to the deal and don't leave yourself open to any losses should things not work out.
2.
Looks like a Ric, smells like a Ric, feels like a Ric.................but it aint a Ric.
And doesn't cost anything like a Ric ! You get what you pay for !
3. Anything that isn't a Sue Ryder !
4. Just swapped a maple neck for a rosewood on my 'blue' Ryder and it has made a huge difference to how low I can get the action. Anybody else with multiple Ryder necks noticed a difference ? Ed.
5. Bought a pickup from Chris at a great price and really speedy delivery. Would highly recommend.
6. The inlays make it look like those Tsai basses you can get from the far east for next to nothing. Does it come with a free car ?

8. I spent £125 on a set of Audio Tecnicas and £300 on a set of Bose headphones for normal ipad listening. I also compared the Bose to a set of Dr Dre's of a comparable value. While the quality of all of these was good, I don't believe it was enough to warrant the exta expense over my £30 Sennheiser running headphones. The Audio Tecnicas were lacking in bass , Dre's were too bassy and the Bose were closest to what I wanted, but at £300 I expected them to be amazing but they are not, they are just good. If you just had the money to spare I'd go for the headphones, but IMHO I think you will get better value from the combo especially if you can pick up a decent second hand one on here. ( I got a 100w Hartrke for just over £100 and I'd rather have that than any of the headphones above)
9.
Hi all Ryderites. I noticed a lot of you have fitted Rotosound Trubass nylons. I mention this because I don`t have a SR but do have a Stagg P-bass copy, which sounds ok, that I intend to fit trubass nylons to and go for that dubby dull james jamerson old string vibe. Is this what some of you intend for the Ryders, and is it because you feel it will suit this role more than a bright zingy stringed snapping machine? MM
Hi Monckyman, That's why I fitted the nylons to one of mine (the other has Ernie's) - however I found I liked D'addario black nylon tapewounds much better than the Trubass nylons, obviously down to individual preference but if you are in the market for some I'd check these out. Ed

11. Bump for a Ryder
12. Bassdoc made a white pearl one for my Ryder and it's an absolute beauty !
13. Just bought it and it is excellent , much better than amplitube and garage band for bass tones ( as you would expect I suppose). Well worth the £3
14.
Thanks very much for your kind words! I promise I leant it against the wall very gently.
Very nice ! Here are my efforts The white one has : Seymour Duncan quarter pounders, D'adarrio black nylon tapewounds, Chrome bridge and pickup covers Custom tort pickguard Pearl topped knobs This one sounds absolutely awesome The navy just has a custom pearl pickguard, fancy knobs and a set of Ernie's. 15. Sounds like a great idea. Good luck with it.
16. Great job. Just looking at my 2 Ryders now and wondering whether to do something a bit bolder than new pickups and scratchplates !
17. Howard made me a couple of pickguards for my Sue Ryder basses - fitted perfectly and got them back in no time. Transactions like this are what makes basschat great !
18. Hi, Is it a Hutchins Prince ? Are you interested in any trades at all ? Ed.
19.
I rang around every shp within a half hour drive radius and none had one. They only store that I couldn't get hold f I decided to go and check out, the Tamworth shop. They have 2 left a navy blue and a white one if anyone wants one who lives near by.
Cheers mate, I couldn't find one anywhere and just been in touch with Tamworth and they were willing to post it out to me as it was too far a drive from Liverpool. They couldn't have been more helpful. Thanks for the heads up ! Ed.
20. I'm still looking for a Ryder. Unfortunately Tom's were slightly damaged so didn't fit the bill
21. Anybody know of a shop in the North West with a Sue Ryder in stock (not Navy.) I've phoned all of the local stores without any success. If I can track one down they may be able to transfer it to my local shop. I could drive to pick it up if it wasn't too far. Ed.
22. Jon Shuker is the master !
