Unrealistic heavy ageing - did not expect this from Nash
edstraker123 replied to Clarky's topic in Bass Guitars
Imagine having to do relicing for a living . You build a thing of absolutely beauty and then destroy it to make it more appealing /valuable. Makes no sense at all to me. Is anybody fooled by such fakery ? -
I have small hands too but love basses so over the years have played alll manner of scale lengths and widths and you do get used to them. The Ibanez basses do have a lovely thin neck but the easiest bass to play in beginner terms I've found is the Retrovibe L'il Richard so if you don't persevere and do wish to buy something new I'd definitely check them out. Reflecting back to my beginner days I think the biggest thing that hindered me was the action of the bass ( particularly back then when cheap instruments could be really poor). As a beginner it is difficult to know what the action should or can be like, so definitely seek advice and make sure the action is nice and low. If not it would probably be worth investing in a setup rather than in a new bass if you are happy with what you've got.

Mani and Hooky -
I have one too and it's a really nice guitar as well as midi controller. The small size makes it perefect for playing at a desk.

The K's - Hometown -
A lot of talent to produce something very dull. Although I feel the same about Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran and the whole world seems to disagree with me.

Are short scale basses really as bad as they say?
edstraker123 replied to Cheeto726's topic in General Discussion
I couldn't make out if it was tongue in cheek or not - certainly made me consider whether I'd watch anything else he produces - mostly yabber with little substance anyway IMHO. -

It was just a much better bass for not much more money. Also given the price drop at Peach, resale on the Corts would definitely be heading in the wrong direction.

Just a shoutout to David at Retrovibe for making me a custom truss rod cover for my L'il Richard bass. Obviously this was a small job with little if any profit in it but great customer service. Looking forward to buying another Retrovibe bass in the near future.

A very expensive one !

I tried to knock them down another £600 on the Flip Flop coloured Thumb they have in there currently (reduced by £1200) and they said no ( what terrible customer service ! 😆 ) Seriously - they have always been brilliant for anything I've bought from them in the past and the best product videos ?( Although I do like Dagan's too )

Fender limited edition Mike Kerr Jaguar...Tiger's Blood Orange!
edstraker123 replied to jd56hawk's topic in Bass Guitars
I've just bought one ( had Gas for it since release) and there is nothing wrong with it at all. I watched the vids on Youtube with the biassed guy with an axe to grind and it almost put me off getting one - glad I paid no attention to him. Merchant City Music were brilliant during the purchase as they happily sent me photos of all of the bits that might have been cause for concern and allayed my fears. I bought 3 basses last week - this , the Reverend Mike Watt ( they need to do a Black Grape model) and a Lakland 55-02 - all brilliant basses in their own ways but the Mike Kerr was the one I couldn't put down. -
I px'ed mine on Saturday back to the guy who sold me it against a mint Lakland 55-02. He's just sold it again on ebay for £600 - so I guess we both did well out of that deal given the falling prices.

The K's - My new favourite band. They put so much effort into trying to get their newly released album I wonder if the world knows ? to Number 1 last week. Really down to earth group of lads. -
Excellent condition Ibanez SR650 in Antique Stained Burst. New set of Chromes added. Great Nordy's tone and lovely Ibanez slim neck Collection from L30 Liverpool preferred but could meet up within reason. Basses incoming so I may have boxes to be able to post potentially at buyers risk and cost. Not looking for trades ideally - but you never know if it's in mint condition and interesting !

I used hydrate on the fretboard when I got mine as it looked a little dry. I then tried a little bit on the back of the body to see how it would come up and it looked wonderful, so I sparingly gave it a once over. It now has a very subtle shine but it does make the grain on the thing really pop.
