1. Not sure if anyone's mentioned it, but the old Yamaha Nathan East BB5 was always really good too. Jimmy Sims
 2. I've been using those Shurgard and Access self storage places for years. They're usually temperature controlled, or at least indoors so they don't fluctuate too much. 24hr access and security is a plus. If you find a good one you might get a plug socket and a few quiet evenings in the week when no-one is around to disturb you playing for an hour or two. One I had a couple of years ago had a window that overlooked a motorway, so I'd sit there with my 1966 portaflex (oh yes!) and practice with a view Jimmy Sims
 3. I think so too! The flight cases cost me £300!!!!
Bargain Jimmy.....!
4. Am I allowed to bump this to show the edits I just made?
MB1. BUMP!
5. So I went to the Aguilar office in New York a few weeks ago and managed to not only try these new cabs, but A-B them with two DB112T's. The new ones are pretty amazing, maybe not quite as powerful sounding as the DB112s, but not so you'd notice unless you're really a/b-ing them very closely. Very impressive.
 6. It's badass, but I just don't need it anymore. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...IT#ht_693wt_936
 7. Ok everybody, Apologies for my flaunting of the rules, that's my bad. Here are the pictures of the rig. As of now there is for sale - ONE Ashdown mini 48 cab, flightcased; you can see from the pictures it's in reasonably good condition, and the flightcase is very tidy indeed. Now, I don't really want to seperate the flightcase and cab, so the price is £130 for the cab and £70 for the case. £200 in total. The head (EVO2 ABM500RC) is a little more tatty, but in good working order. It has the following flaws - Missing knob from the 'clean-grind' pot (knobs are available from Ashdown) - Missing button for the "clean-grind" switch; the switch still works perfectly, and again, buttons are available from Ashdown - The VU monitor LIGHT isn't working, but the VU monitor itself does work. Its in perfect working order apart from that, and sounds great; price for the head = £300 Not sure how much shipping will cost; I'm in North London just at the end of the M1, so pickups are most welcome. Let me know where you live and we can work out what's best. first come first served, PM me for sale. Paypal is my preferred payment method. 8. (EDIT3) Ok; so I'm guessing from the lack of interest, that my prices may be a little high? Here's a revised pricing for you; see what you think. Do PM me with interest in any pieces. EVO2 ABM500RC - So, looking around, I guess mine is a little more tatty than others, so how does £200 sound? 2 x mini 48 cabs (flightcased) £175 each OR £500 for the lot! C'mon guys and gals, papa needs a new pair of jazz basses Jimmy Sims (EDIT2) One sale fell through so I now have TWO of the cabs for sale along with the head. Just to recap EVO2 ABM500RC £300 2 x Mini 48 cabs (flightcased) £200 each ALL TOGETHER = £650.00 (EDIT1) Ok everybody, Apologies for my flaunting of the rules, that's my bad. Its an ABM500RC and two mini 48 cabs. The cabs are flight cased in purple ABS cases, and have had the old blue speakers taken out and replaced with Ashdowns newer black lighter and more powerful speakers. What do you think? Anybody after that sort of thing? I'm not sure about a price yet... I understand that the flight cases will be worth hardly anything of the original price, but they are pretty good and in really good condition. Send me a message if you think you might be into it or any part of it. Jimmy Sims
 9. Show off
As the lucky purchaser I am happy to say that its used every weekend, sounds great and gets lots of compliments on its sound. If you can find one for sale, grab it!!
10. Just checking its definitely sold? Would love to grab it if its still going? JImmy SIms
 11. I didn't really know Judie's stuff before I started this tour, but if anyone's up for a challenge, you should try playing Sportscar. Its not that technically demanding, but the changing accents are a lot of fun; also the outro is incredible. Having only known Rhino for playing with Status Quo, I thought he wasn't really up to much as a player, but the fact is, he's AMAZING. Not only for being able to play this sort of thing, but to come up with it in the first place!?!? Jimmy Sims
 12. In a band with Peta? What on earth!? I never new she was a musician!
Well, it's small world because many years ago I was in a band with Kerry Minnear's sister-in-law. Gentle Giant even knicked our roadie who became Kerry's keyboard tech for one of the US/European tours.
13. I'm a MASSIVE Ray Shulman fan, ever since my first girlfriend (who happened to be the daughter of Giant keyboard player Kerry) introduced me to Gentle Giant. I've even had the pleasure of meeting the man himself a couple of times. I've just picked up a 73 p-bass with a rosewood board just to try to get that sound. If you're into his grooves, check out The Face from the Power And The Glory album http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ymf-QlLn8UU Jimmy Sims
 14. Very nice to meet MB1 too. Thoroughly nice chap! JS x
 15. I might get in trouble for posting this link again, but I'm cute and loveable, so I might get away with it? Some pedals for sale over here http://shop.ebay.co.uk/jimesims/m.html?_nk...m=&_ipg=200
 16. I've got two brand new 125 guage Elites stadium (stainless steel) B strings... I don't use 125's anymore so does anyone else want them? Free to anyone who can pick them up from North West London. Jimmy Sims
 17. Having been on both sides of the audition process, I can say without a shadow of doubt, they are the worst most anxiety inducing experiences for all parties. I'd rather spoon my own eyes out than go to most auditions; I've been to quite a few, and not had much from most other than a raised heart rate and an inability to play my instrument properly. Unfortunately they're a necessary evil for most bands, cos let's face it, who knows that many musicians!? From the other side, when I've been auditioning people for bands, the first thing you look at is the instrument, and you/we/one can't help but have ideas about how people play and who they are based on what instrument they pull out of their bag/case. If someone turns up auditioning for a pop/rock band on guitar with a double neck Ibanez Gem, the first thing I'm going to say is "Just pay the parts as they are written/recorded"; but if the guy/girl pulls out an old telecaster or something a bit more basic, I'm likely to just let them do their thing and maybe listen to their ideas without too much prejudice. I'm not saying that these things are right, but I think that if you want to be left alone to do your own thing and play a little outside the box, you might want to start off really REALLY slow, so people get used to you before they let you change their babies (songs). Most people when they think of Bass, think of a P-Bass playing root notes; so give them that to start off with, then you can gradually start expanding their minds by dropping the odd inversion or a-tonal hemi-demi-semi-quaver tapping fill. 18. I'm having a clear out of strings I'm not using. http://shop.ebay.co.uk/jimesims/m.html?_nk...om=&_ipg=25 Jimmy Sims
 19. Ha! whoops
0207 267 5458
20. Just to let you all know, if you haven't seen already; this bass is now on sale in the Gallery in Camden, London for £800.00 Give them a call on 020 7262 5458 and speak to Alex if you're interested. Jimmy Sims
 21. Guys guys! Don't fight; why don't you buy it together? One can have it on weekdays and one on weekends?
Even when it's got roundwounds on it and it's covered in scratches and Brentford stickers? And don't try to lure me into you and Clarky's game of pass the bass parcel. I'm not playing....
22. Six Ashdown blue 8inch speakers from my two min 4x8 cabs. I've replaced them with the new black ones that are a little lighter, so I've got these six to clear out. Perfect working order; I really should ask for money for them, but if you're willing to come and pick them up, you're welcome to all or as many as you want. I'm in North West London at the moment, but also doing a tour with Judie Tzuke in a couple of weeks, so I can bring them along to any of those gigs (check dates on www.tzuke.com) if you buy a ticket ) Jimmy Sims
 23. Wow, that's a tough call... I don't mean to sit on the fence, but it feels like a slim p-bass or a wide jazz... I had a 62 reissue jazz a few years ago and its not unlike that; slightly wider and flatter than a 70's jazz. Hope that helps? Jimmy
Hi Jimmy, Would you say the neck was more like a Precision or a Jazz in feel/dimensions?
24. Hi there, Apologies for the late reply; I've been on holiday and trying not to think about computers, let alone getting on the internet The bass weighs roughly 9lbs, its very comfortable to wear, I do have shoulder issues but this one has never given me any hassle. Jimmy Sims
What weight is the bass?
25. Hey, I've never pretended to be anything but a total fool. I stand by my dancing
Got a shot of one of these in the old Sound Control in Glasgow and it was a peach. Mind you, Jimmie should be banned for sartorial piracy!
