Im not that sure what you mean, but with my timefactor when i press the middle footswitch on most delay types it repeates whatevers being delayed that instance forever at unity volume, whilst its being affected by like the filter on filter-delay mode.
Yeah it repeats that instance but it continues to repeat new stuff over it. I want to press the pedal and play a note, then lift my foot. The trail of that note continues over the new notes in the dry sound.

Does such a thing exist? Would be ideal for this song I'm working on. Otherwise I have to quickly press on and off every time I play the isolated notes I want the delay on (trails are supposed to continue after I press off obviously)...

I have a 5-string bass that when I press the E string on the 6th fret (Bb note) it causes a buzz that sounds nastier than the usual fret buzz you get from low action or a tight neck, more like a rattle. It also seems to come from somewhere between the finger and the headstock. If I move the finger back in that position so that it's nearer to the 5th fret, the rattle stops. I assume that's because it goes over that fret with higher inclination, thus avoiding touching the other frets. I'm pretty sure it comes from the 4th fret, like maybe it's too tall, or the 5th is too shallow. I called a famous bass shop in London and they said they wouldn't file or fix just one fret, they'd only level the whole fretboard at a cost of £70 or so!!! Is this standard??? Any luthier in London that would give me a hand with this? Seems like a quick easy job to me...?

Got a Squire Vintage Modified Jazz V, want to replace some hardware... The pickups are "Duncan designed" and I find the tone too trebly, a bit like having the tweeter loud on the cab, every hit of the strings on the frets sounds really loud. And I'd like it to sound more punchy too... If I turn the Tone down, it just sounds artificially muffled. While remaining passive, I'd like it to sound as close as possible to my US Jazz Deluxe (which is active) but I'm also a fan of the passive tone of the US Standard model... And I'd like to spend up to around £100 max... The Seymour Duncan Basslines have a good price, but how would they sound for what I'm after? What else would you suggest?

Bought a Squier VMJ 5 strings + case from Dave, it was virtually as new and Dave is a pleasure to deal with.

Bridge for Squier Vintage Modified Jazz 5?
1976fenderhead replied to 1976fenderhead's topic in Repairs and Technical
What about this one I found later: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/181213593914?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 Too cheap? -
I've just bought this bass from a fellow basschatter and I think I will want to replace the bridge at some point. I'm not too fussed about bridges but this one does allow for a lot of lateral movement of the saddles which affects tuning, so I'd just like one that keeps them steady laterally. It has 6 screws. I'd preferably like something that matches this so I wouldn't have to redrill, but if not possible then I'll take something else. What do you guys recommend? You can see the bridge in this photo: http://cdn1.gbase.co...iwahnpto_so.jpg The only one I've found so far that seems to match the screws is this one: http://www.allparts....e-2-p-1761.html But the string grooves look all too much to the left, which seems like it will make all the strings be off-centre above the pickup dots...?
Might be easier to just buy a nut. There will be variance in the truss rod setup also because of deviation in string gauge
Yeah I'll definitely have to adjust it, but wondering if anything more dramatic would be needed (as in the truss rod not being prepared to stand the extra tension for example), but I'm pretty sure it will be ok...
These work well, but they are not cheap!
Yikes... Yeah I know I can get it done for 20 quid so am trying to spend less than that... Btw, if later I want to go back to normal EADG, will that be ok with the slightly wider slots or will there be any instability because of it?
-
I'm thinking of changing a cheap Squier P-Bass Special I have to BEAD tuning. I'll have to file the nut to accommodate the extra thickness. Could you point me to files for me to buy? Any tips for the filing process itself? Reckon anything will have to be done to the bridge as well, or to deal with the extra pull on the truss rod? Cheers

I'm really not going to go for SR basses because I've had SR before and am bored with it. Would give ATK a go though, hoping they're not as heavy as they look :-/

I have to say I'm getting quite inclined to Yamaha BB425 now...
Are you absolutely sure you want to avoid Yamaha? This is a lot of bass for your money:
I'd like to, but I won't be a fundamentalist if a great deal comes by.
What's your beef with the brands you wish to avoid? Not stirring - genuine question.
Totally fair question. I can't explain technically in terms of the characteristics of the sound, but I generally find playing those basses underwhelming, as in cold-sounding, too 'clinical' and lacking personality, though they're usually very well built. On the other hand, my backup Squier is built like a piece of cr*p, has a terrible bridge, a dodgy neck/fretboard with buzz in odd places and doesn't stay in tune for long, yet I find its tone awesome despite it being made with the cheapest wood Indonesian forests have to offer. Go figure...
I had a vintage modified 5 jazz for 2 weeks (5 string wasn't for me back then) and thought the build quality was really good, better than my mex p Bass I had.
That was actually the bass I had in mind when I started this post, there's a good one on eBay. I'm more inclined towards the MM now though

The Spector Legend might be above my budget? I would love 35" neck as the only time I liked the sound of the 5th string it was a 35" neck (that Spector I mentioned) but I doubt I can get that length with my budget... The SUB range seems like a good option, I didn't know it...

Hey, I'm thinking of getting a cheap 5-string bass to play some songs that require it at home just for fun and to see if I like to play 5-strings in which case I'll later get a good one. For reference, I've been playing for 21 years so I'm experienced and Fender Jazz is my thing but I also have a fretless Warwick Corvette which I love, and probably the best-sounding bass I've ever tried was a very expensive US Spector... So, options I can think of are Squier and the cheap Warwick and Spector ranges... anything else? Squier is probably closest to what I like since I like Fender, but I'm not impressed with the quality of the backup Squier P-Bass Special I own... Warwick and Spector seem to have better pickups, maybe better construction for the price? Brands I'd like to avoid: Ibanez, Peavey, Yamaha. Limit: £300-something used, 200-something would be ideal. Thanks!

Looks like we're getting the single pedal B3 after all!
1976fenderhead replied to Dood's topic in Effects
To be fair though, you didn't much like anything about the B3... did you?
From the second time I had a B3, I liked the synths especially the G5 model which is excellent, my favourite thing in the whole unit, I liked one of the envelope filter pedals, I thought the preamps were pretty good but I don't really need them. Delays and reverbs were good too but also not much use for them. Then I thought distortions were atrocious and modulations were much weaker than in the Line 6 M5. But above all, it altered my tone when bypassed and that's why I sold it. A lot of people don't seem to have this problem so good for them but I certainly did. If not for that I might have kept it for the G5 model alone! -
I have DI out from the amp so that won't be an issue for me. I don't really like effects and don't use them much - I think this is why this appeals so much. But, yes, will I actually like the effects it has? Difficult to say. I tried a lot of chorus pedals which i didn't like before I settled on the EBS Unichorus, which I do like. Hopefully this will be somewhere near it. Anyway, thanks!
I've had the Unichorus and the B3, and although I'm not a big fan of the Unichorus, the chorus in the B3 comes nowhere near it. I thought it was quite poor and limited. -
I've spent a few hours with it and my Corona Chorus. I love that you can get a fully functional flanger into the Corona, and I'm guessing a fully functional chorus into the Vortex, so you can have a pedal akin to the MXR Bass Chorus Deluxe for a fraction of the price. But unless I want a flanger in there (which at the moment I don't), I won't use this because of a major flaw: you can't save what you create. You can't save it to a file in your computer, you can't even load what you have sent to your pedal before and improve on it. Every time you start the application, you start from scratch. This is apparently so that you can't edit artists' toneprints. The workaround is to take screenshots of your settings every time before you exit the application. But since I spent hours with it and what I created was still not as good as a couple of artists' toneprints I've been using, and I can't improve on on what I did because after all those hours I took no screenshots (thought I could load it back from the pedal later, d'oh!) I won't bother much more (bar the flanger option). At the moment I'm using Troy Sanders's toneprint and happy with it, hard to do better. Artists had more options too, what you get is a slightly simplified version with fewer options and a nice UI.
Sorry, i noticed my comment about the fees was a bit out of order, seeing as you placed the add before they came in to effect.
Well not really, he made some post in Aug 2012, then he changed it yesterday at 7:48 to list a pedal he bought in December and evade fees and 1 minute later he bumped it. Not the first time I've seen it, not the first time it will be deleted. Moderators can see your post versions.

Post your pedal board - Basschat style!!

I do use it, didn't think it made much sense when I bought it but now I find it very inspiring. I have LP at minimum (but makes very little difference since I have Blend at 3 o'c) and HP at 12 or 1 o'c.
