Yeah I've emailed them trying to get a discounted driver. Let's see how it goes... Thanks for your help! -
Cone rattling from vibrations even if cab unplugged
1976fenderhead replied to 1976fenderhead's topic in Repairs and Technical
Wow, that's quite a find! I do have that number sticker! It's way past warranty though and I'm not sure it's the same issue... I don't see a loose connection and it rattles even when unplugged. The only thing I can see is that if I press either of the silver wires going into the cone, the rattling stops, but so it does if I just press the cone with my finger, I think it's just the wires pressing on the cone like my finger, same effect... Anyway, seems like I'll really have to take it to someone to have a look at it... -
Cone rattling from vibrations even if cab unplugged
1976fenderhead replied to 1976fenderhead's topic in Repairs and Technical
Ok, so here are my findings: I don't see anything touching anything inside, or loose or dangling, everything seems fine. With the cab unplugged: With the cab resting on its back, speaker pointing up, if I play a low note the cone rattles with the vibrations in the room. If I pull it out of its hole and rest it on top the cab (next to hole, pointing up), vibrations stop. If I start lowering it back into the hole, when I get to about an inch of it resting in place, it starts rattling again. With the cab plugged: It just farts no matter what as notes are played. If I put my finger on the cone, it stops. Looks like the speaker is blown, right? -
Cone rattling from vibrations even if cab unplugged

Cheers guys, I'll give that a shot. If I shake the cab I hear something that seems to be dangling inside (like a cable), but that might be the cone itself I suppose... I'll report back. -

Hmmm, is it tricky to open a cab up like that, or is it only a matter of unscrewing and screwing back on? -
Cone rattling from vibrations even if cab unplugged

Thanks, most of those checks are above my technical capacity though... From GK tech support's input, it seems a replacement may be necessary. I'm in touch with the Bass Gallery at the moment to get it checked and replaced if necessary... -
Using one pedal as a combined Volume and Expression pedal
1976fenderhead replied to radiophonic's topic in Effects
I haven't noticed any switch noise on mine. For the record, I've had the Nano POG, the PS6 and the Pitchfork. The Pitchfork (which is on my board) wipes the floor with the other two in terms of tracking and warble IMO. -
I have 2 GK Neo 112 cabs and one of them, even if unplugged, is making a rattling noise that sounds similar to distortion even if the cab is unplugged, just from the vibrations of the other cab when I play. I've tightened all the screws I could and no change, then identified the rattle as coming from the front, tried pressing on the cone while the rattling was going on and that stops it. So it's coming from the cone, pressing elsewhere does nothing. Any ideas why this might be happening? Would a blown driver rattle through vibrations even if unplugged?

Both basses are IMMACULATE, no scratches or dings anywhere, like new (the Warwick has some light string marks on the fingerboard from being played, unavoidable). Good setups and new-ish strings in excellent condition. Warwick Corvette Standard Bubinga Made In Germany - £530 £510 Bought new in 2009 to go with an acoustic radio gig, then only used it to practice playing fretless at home. Left the house 2 times total! I love this bass (tone and build quality are sooo good and it looks cool!) and have looked after it with great care, but I have no real use for this bass in my bands ever, so it's just been sitting in a corner for ages, which is a waste. Hopefully its new owner will make it fulfil its potential! Comes with the original gig bag and all accessories and documentation inside. The strings on it are Thomastik Jazz Flatwound 43-100. Squier Vintage Modified V - £200 SOLD Bought years ago for a project that never took off. Impressively well built (I'd say better than my MIA Fender Deluxe Jazz!!!). The wood pieces even join right at the middle of the body as you can see on the back, which is not always the case! Have been waiting for another band where I'd need a 5-string but it never happened. Comes with a cool vintage-looking hardcase. The strings on it are Fender 72505M Nickel Plated Steel Long Scale. Collection only, from East London. Sale preferred but will consider trades for an interesting fretted 4-string bass on the cheap side. Any questions, just ask!
I use a fender microDI. It's tiny, has a cab SIM, and a boost/attenuator switch. Its size means no space for batteries, but if you already have a power supply (a daisy-chain/trex type box/gigrig type system) then I'd doubt you will find a smaller Di. Edit: sorry I completely missed the passive bit of title.
I have to say though, that is quite tempting.

Thanks, I don't have much reference regarding DIs so don't know how cheap is too cheap to be good. If something like that will do fine, great! I don't want to have to bother with powering it, since I really don't need it to be amplified, just want it as basic as possible without degrading the sound.

I use the Ampeg SCR-DI but have no use for the Scrambler part and the pedal is heavy and massive so I think I may just get the Ampeg Classic Preamp and a passive DI box... Which do you recommend? Would something like this do? http://www.samsontech.com/samson/products/processors/s-max/md1/ That's about 30 quid. Can I go even cheaper?

All pedals as new or nearly, boxed with instructions. Prices include postage. T-Rex Bass Juice - SOLD ON EBAY Have had this for years, still one of my favourite bass distortions, but no longer need it. Electro-Harmonix Operation Overlord Allied Overdrive - SOLD ON EBAY Most versatile 2-channel overdrive pedal I know but no longer need it. Bought new 5 months ago. Power supply included. Tech 21 Bass Fly Rig - SOLD Bought recently but it's overkill for my needs. Besides the usual quality of the SansAmp, the compressor and the chorus are impressive, and I also unexpectedly really liked the Octafilter as a synth (though the octaver isn't great, the only weak point in this pedal). The original power supply is not included but it works off a normal Boss-type PSU. Electro-Harmonix Deluxe Bass Big Muff Pi - SOLD Used it quite a bit, excellent pedal, but more into overdrive these days. Jim Dunlop CryBaby Bass Wah 105q - SOLD Used it a lot years ago but it's been in a cabinet since, haven't been in a band where I'd have a use for it in a long time. The switchless operation is really nice! Will miss this one too!

Bought a Bass Fly Rig from Adrian, really nice guy to deal with and totally trustworthy, recommended! Quick shipping and flawless packaging too!
