EBS Bass IQ Triple Envelope Filter (High Q, Up and Down), mint condition and in full working order with box and manual, velcro on base. £80 posted. I live in East London so I can meet the buyer near that area, in which case I'll knock off £5 for savings on postage and hassle. Thanks for looking!

Any website? London shop?

So far main contender seems to be the Memory Toy, because it's cheap. Or the Carbon Copy (is it worth the extra £££)? Or I might decide to go for one with looping capabilities in which case I'd go for a used DD7... Any thoughts on analog vs digital in delays? Main use should be for intros a la Tool so maybe no tap tempo required?

I'm considering selling my trusted amp and cab to buy a more portable alternative. Both in absolutely excellent condition, near mint I could say. There's also the SKB shallow rack 2U but I might keep that one... There are no casters with the cab. How much do you reckon I could get for this? Would only go through with it if I could get a decent lighter weight alternative for a similar value...

Simply too much gain. I used to have an older model Fender USA Jazz Deluxe using one 9v battery. None of my pedals feedbacked with it and though it was active, it wasn't that hot so I could plug it into the 'Passive' input of my amp. Then I got a new model using two 9v batteries. With this bass, my T-Rex Bass Juice was feedbacking when I hit the Boost switch. I tried plugging into the 'Active' input instead: problem solved. So if you're already using the 'Active' input on your Laney and it's still feedbacking, there's not much else you can do apart from lowering the gain that's going into it - either lowering the output on your bass or on your pedal.
You have a super bright Red LED, they are clear when off!
Ah ok, thx. Never noticed a difference :-p

I have a true bypass EBS pedal and an older non-true-bypass model of the same brand. The older models' LED is red when on and off, but in the newer models the LED is red when on but white (transparent) when off. What's up with that? All my pedals have red LEDs except the T-Rex Bass Juice which has 2 super bright white LEDs that are a pain in the ass live because they're so blinding on a dark stage...

I kind of predicted this would happen when I posted but didn't see it on the first page and couldn't bother searching :-p

Strum all strings at once and it tells you which are sharp or flat, or use as a normal chromatic tuner. Seems like it does everything the Pitchblack does and more, and it looks bloody damn cool! gggaaasssss

MXR M80 settings for tube-y sound with a bit of overdrive
1976fenderhead replied to Clarky's topic in Effects
I tested now to add just a bit of 'tubey' grit to the clean tone and to me the best setting for that is Blend at 9o'c and Gain at 8o'c. I don't think it adds that much to the tone though, but will try it in a band setting next week and see, at least it seems to improve attack definition, might help the bass stand out better in the mix but apart from that I don't see much worth in it... -
I use the M80 with fretless but just not the "color" button. The mid scoop kills mwah as you say.
Sure, I see the point of that if not using an amp, but using it with an amp without the color, might as well use the tone controls of the amp for that purpose... But without amp, straight to mixing desk or audio interface, definitely better than the 1 tone knob of my passive Corvette!!! -

MXR M80 settings for tube-y sound with a bit of overdrive
1976fenderhead replied to Clarky's topic in Effects
I like the M80 and find it a very useful tool but I don't tend to use the "color" button on the clean channel. I find it sucks too much of the mids from the tone. With my P bass I like to leave the eq pretty much flat, boosting what's required for the room. I find you get a nice grind from the distortion with blend around 11 o'clock, and gain at 9 - 10 o'clock. Push the gain to 12 - 2 o'clock for fuzz. The "color" button is engaged when the distortion is on but I find that helps put back the bass which distortion usually loses. Anyone else use the M80 with a fretless? I find the mid control comes in very useful here and a small boost really helps define the fretless tone.
I tried it with a fretless, overall I prefer the tone but I feel I lose the expressiveness of the mwwwahhh of the bass especially in higher notes so as a trade off I don't use it with my fretless. I suppose I could boost the highs to get the mwaahh back, but if so, I get just a normal transparent tone like my SWR already has, no point in using the M80 then (unless if no amp being used). At the moment I have it set up as proper clean and proper distortion but I'll try to add just a slight touch of distortion to my clean tone and leave it on all the time to see how that goes... -
Used the pedal at band practice tonight - the other guys loved it when I blended in a bit of overdrive/distortion. Tons of beefy low end too. Very pleased with it. Thanks all for your suggestions.
I'm glad you like it... Overall my favourite pedal ever I think... -
MXR M80 settings for tube-y sound with a bit of overdrive
1976fenderhead replied to Clarky's topic in Effects
I usually use it clean but I'd assume it would be a matter of blending in some distortion to the clean tone... I have color on. Then to get a tubey sound I do: Boost Bass to between 1 and 3 o'clock Cut Mids to between 8 and 11 Boost Highs to between 2 and 3. It varies depending on the circumstances of the studio, etc. When playing live I usually have to cut bass if I engage color... Then I say fiddle with the distortion to dial a bit in to your tubey sound (color is always on when you engage distortion anyway). I set gate to 11 o'clock and Blend and Gain to slightly over 12 o'clock. I suppose you'd lower Blend to give it just a slight driven tone... -
Which preamp/DI pedal for tube-y goodness and grit?
1976fenderhead replied to Clarky's topic in Effects
I have not one but two MXR M80s LOVE IT!!! One on the board (always color engaged, no distortion as I use the T-Rex for that), the other for home studio practice (I use its distortion in that situation so I don't have to worry with more pedals). I might part with one for the right amount of £££ so PM me if interested Bass Driver = lame. -
I'd go with the MXR M-80, color switch engaged ;-)

Pedal Sale - EBS, Frantone, Aphex

I like it but I find it very tricky to set up. It's too sensitive to the 'hotness' of the bass so you you have to find just the right threshold spot and right attack speed to get the right tone and avoid it enhancing too low frequencies giving it an unpleasant volume boost. When I get it right, it's awesome and makes me forget my wah, but it's a lot of work, also because different amps and EQs in rehearsal rooms make me have to adjust this pedal every time!
I didn't see that video when I was hunting around. This one, on the other hand is appalling and does the pedal no favors what so ever. Not a good demonstration of what the Bass Juice can do.
I know, that guy must have cost T-Rex thousands, they should pay him to take that sh*t down :-p OR, they should just get some decent videos up themselves, instead of that rubbish they uploaded themselves where the guy plays in one setting only that has barely any dirt at all!
There's never any good demos or sound clips on the net for the Bass Juice which I think is quite odd seeing how good it is.
True, this one gives a good idea though... Bass wah like the 105q (no toe switch) but not sucking tone?
By GOD that's a relief! I watched that review last night, thinking: "Bloody hell, that's some of the tastiest playing I've heard in a while, and he's just demo-ing a bloody pedal FFS!" I've only just realised who it is ... MarloweDK. I don't feel quite so pathetic and inadequate any more.
THAT wah sounds awesome! I've kinda stopped taking my wah to gigs and am now using a filter so I can carry a smaller pedalboard :-( but if I were to get one now, that would be the one!
