Compare this to my recent experience of returning a pedal to Guitar Guitar here in the UK, I had to pay my own return shipping and my refund was deducted the priced of shipping it out to me even though it was 'free' shipping at the time of purchase. I won't be buying from there again!
Had the same experience with Bass Direct. Deducting original shipping costs, by the way, is illegal under Distance Selling Regulations, same going for a 'service charge', the full price you paid has to be fully refunded. To be honest, I couldn't be bothered to contest the original shipping costs deduction because I imagine they must get lots of people abusing DSRs to try stuff at home, but regardless of it being somewhat fair IMO, it's still illegal.

I do find that using a preamp pedal along with my amp does tend to end up confusing my tonal choices in the long run, to a point where I've just decided to put my BDDI away, unless if I'll be using it to record without an amp. I already have EQ and valves in my amp and EQ in my active bass, are those so bad that I need a preamp pedal as well? And if I'm going to choose only the pedal's EQ by going to the FX return of the amp, seems a bit silly to replace the sound of my GK MB Fusion 500 with that of the BDDI... I've decided to just make those work. Preamp pedal only if no amp present, that's what I'm trying to do now.

I have 3 MXR bass pedals at the moment (octave, filter, compressor), zero tone suck. The 105q does suck tone though, but that's different...

I use a Sansamp BDDI to add that typical colour to my bass but I don't go into overdrive territory with it. Wondering if a B3K would work for this? Would save space on my board and I don't really use the DI or even the EQ, just a bit of Drive, Blend and a big cut on the Presence... I tried a B3K at a shop and liked what the switches did to the sound but couldn't play loud so not sure how it really works... It also seemed to keep the low end unlike the Vintage version... Your more knowledgeable thoughts?

Best effect pedal for muse/song 2/etc. - WITH ACTIVE BASS
1976fenderhead replied to Guinness21's topic in Effects
I get this sound with an EHX Deluxe Bass Big Muff going into a Sansamp BDDI (or the bass amp in Guitar Rig in this case for the same purpose, sounds pretty much the same). Had seen that video when it came out, also saw them yesterday in Brixton and had seen them before, can't remember where in London. Yesterday confirmed my first impression: it doesn't work live. I'm a big fan of DFA1979 but in studio only. It sounds like sh*t live. Both times I went with people who didn't know them well and felt sorry for them, if you don't know the songs you can't make out most of what the hell he's playing on stage.

MXR M82 Bass Envelope Filter - SOLD
1976fenderhead replied to AntLockyer's topic in Effects For Sale
i agree wholehartedly! i prefer it to the wonderlove i also have. the sensivity on the mxr is much more forgiving than on the wonderlove. when adding other FX (oct, fuzz) the mxr still works with the added "oomph" from the other FX, while the wonderlove has serious difficulties without adjustments to the sensivity.... GLWTS!
Exactly, if you play clean lots of them will do fine, but if you place it after effects like different distortions or fuzzes you can always make this one work, make it less sensitive or drier to accommodate them. -

Has anyone tried the Behringer version of the LS2?
-
Why not just use an LS2?
May come to that, but I'd like smaller, cheaper and simpler.

Great tips guys, thanks a lot for the help so far.
It's not that it's not advisable, I'd just guess that the results would be unpredictable, but more importantly uncontrollable. However, if your two signals are coming from pedals with volume controls, you can use these as your mixer controls EDIT: I used to use one of these for this, using two chains of pedals, each with an "always on" at the end of the chain
I remembering reading somewhere long ago about this kind of combiner plug weakening the signals somehow, can't remember why... not the case?
-
Of course they would but you said smaller and cheaper. A passive mixer can be made using 2 resistors, 3 jack plugs and some cable. You don't get cheaper than that.
Can be made, but not by me. Can you do it? How many pesos?
-
However, if your two signals are coming from pedals with volume controls, you can use these as your mixer controls
Yes, that would be the case.
From what you are saying you just want to sum two signal together. This is just like adding left and right to make a mono. You can do thsi very simply with a couple of resistors as long as the two signals are of similar amplitude. If not then you need to add a level (gain/attentuator) in each path which turns it into a very simple mixer.
But wouldn't these pedals do it?
-
What do you want to add together and into what? You probably need a mixer.
Join 2 different signal paths of effects and send to the same amp.
-
Hmmm but the Fender pedal above and for example the common Morley ABY advertise combining two signals into 1... Not advisable?
-
...or ABY? (that's how I'm searching for it, I think I don't get as many results with mixer). This seems to be exactly what I'm after, but the cheaper and smaller the better. I don't even need the switch! http://intl.fender.c...icro-aby-black/

Hi guys, just wondering what simple and cheap pedals you can recommend to join 2 inputs into 1 output, and no switching between inputs needed. I can see Mooer, Fender... any others?
-
Agree whit what others said, decent tracking but sounds digital. More acceptable if you throw distortion after it...
-
Sounds totally unremarkable and boring to me... Meh. A tonne of better stuff already out there.
-
Got a Fredric Fuzz from lefrash, best-packed pedal I ever received, in great condition and sounding great. All good, thanks!
-
So has anyone had any experience with this pedal yet? Any issues with volume differences?

Why Am I Losing Volume When I Combine Overdrive and Chorus?
1976fenderhead replied to blue's topic in Effects
Sounds like some weird phase cancellation going on there... -
My one niggle with this is the lack of an overall volume control, or individual volume controls for each voice. What if I want to use full wet octave up but find it appears much louder than the dry sound? What if I want to mix in a bit of octave down but find the same thing? If these things prove to be no problem though, I might even replace my octaver and have the option for octave up as well, for which I've used an additional pedal at times. I have to say I had no volume problems using the M5's pitch shifter when I had it, so maybe it will be fine.
