For sale or trade is my black '78 Fender Precision. It's not getting any love since I moved towards playing five strings so I'm reluctantly moving it on. All original - including the ash trays with the original foam under the bridge plate. The sticker on the back of the pick guard matches the headstock number too. It's got a good action, strung with flats so its a chunky sounding beast. It's a nice playable '78 Precision basically - any questions I'll gladly answer. I'm looking for either £1700 cash or a trade (plus cash if appropriate) for a five string with a precision type vibe. So if you've got something you think might interest me drop me a message. Thanks! Ian

The Fender American Standard Precision 5 String
dodge_bass replied to Schnozzalee's topic in Bass Guitars
I agree with all the comments - nice bass, good neck if a little slow and sounds like a P-bass with a low B. I've got my slung with flats - the B just gives me a bit more range, a thumb rest for when I'm playing on the E (!) and means the string spacing is a little tighter which makes it slightly easier to get around. Recommended if you want a 70's funk/soul P-bass kinda sound with a little more range! -

I'm definitely biased (see my signature) but I've been using a really light weight set of chromes of my P-bass and feel like I've got the best sounds I've ever had. Fat sound but not too bassy and importantly not too heavy on the fingers either - something I've always found a problem with flats is the tension. I'm playing mainly funk and soul though but recently playing some tunes with a pick ( a rare occurrence for me) on a touring theatre show have found them to be bright and still cut through the mix. Take the plunge and try some but my experience tells me that you'll probably go through several types and manufacturers before you find exactly what you want. I feel outrageously lucky to have found an endorser who makes strings for both instruments that I really dig. Good luck with the search

For sale as it's been gathering dust since I bought a two channel head and should be used! Works really well, great sound, good DI, great for using two instruments and comes with a new and unused stereo-mono cable for the effects loop. Has some velcro on bottom for attaching to a pedal board if required but otherwise is in pretty good condition (few little marks). Here's a load of info in case you want it: http://www.tonebone....tb-bassbone.htm These seem to weigh in any anywhere between £250 and £300 new so I think £150 with the effects cable (approx £10 new) included and £10 (it's quite heavy) for the delivery is a good price = £160 in total. Pics below but please contact me if any further Q. Top: Bottom: Cable: Manual: Cheers Ian

Welcome! If you want transcriptions (or extracts of!) give me a shout - I've got loads on my website and would be happy to throw stuff your way! Maybe you could get round the full transcription thing by using extracts and doing a kind of 'stylistic / genre study' kind of thing....? I'd happily do you a blues one if you wanted?! All the best for the magazine - I will start buying it again I think having read through all of these post!

For sale: Aguilar bass overdrive pedal (AGRO). Again gathering dust and not being used so want to shift on. Few cosmetic marks on the pedal and some tape underneath to fix to a pedal board. Works fine. Approx £150 new so £90 incl P&P (£8 - next day delivery insured) = total of [s]£98[/s] Pics:

dodge_bass replied to ssab's topic in Theory and Technique
Been using this for ten years and still finding it helpful! Well worth investing in. Here is a good pdf by Cliff Engel which does the same job : http://www.cliffengel.com/bass_lessons/online/rhythm_studies_es/ I've got it on my iphone as a pdf for when I don't have my bellson to hand! -
Cool! Good resource

Allianz are great - quick to respond too when you are making a claim. I also use musicguard for the rest of my equipment and they are very reasonable including world-wide cover.
