I am taking lessons via Skype and latency for talking is fine. The the latency when playing together is very poor. The other issue is Skype cannot cope with voice and bass at the same time. The only answer I have at the moment is mixing the mic, bass and MP3 player (when needed) into my mixer and then mono into my Scarlet 2i4. This seems to work.

Whats the most ridiculous thing you have been asked for on stage?

Did you approach many musicians or just bass players? -
Seriously? I thought the stop reading other posts was a separate thread.

It has taught me that tort is good / is not good for a pickguard. It has taught me that a PA is compulsory for pub gigs, apart from when it is not. It has taught me that 4 is the correct number of strings for a bass guitar, unless you have 5 or more. It has taught me that 8ms of lag is too much, except when it is not. It has taught me that the best compressor pedal is always the one I do not have. It has taught me that reading music is the only way to get on, unless you already have gotten on without reading. It has taught me that a p bass is the go to instrument, unless one prefers something else. It has taught me that jokes I think are good are bad and that all retailers are not good unless you have had a good experience of them. Finally; it has taught me most people on here are good people. One thing it has not taught me is what is the best guitar for metal. Thank you BC - I am / I am not a better person thanks to you.

Coming straight from a set of Bose computer speakers, these were a revelation. I only auditioned couple of other brands though. Note too my room is not set up acoustically and speaker siting may not be ideal but then I only use them to listen to music and mix my bass into pre recorded tracks on Logic Pro via a 2nd gen Scarlett 2i4. I am very happy with them though. They get very good reviews on YT so they must be reasonable at least.

Adam Audio T5v user here. I did a compare with the Yamaha equivalent and, whilst these are not as loud, the sound is better, for my ears. I play 5 string so did end up having to buy the T10s sub however to get a better reproduction of the b string. Very happy with the set up now.

Can't help with the technical bit, but reading through the threads on this site, perhaps remove the tort pickguard?

I have a Dingwall AB1 (not left handed, however) and have no problem with the fan frets at all. This morning was spent swapping between that and my Roscoe Century without issue (both 5ers). It takes a few minutes to get used to the fans when you first pick it up but not difficult. Chords are the only issue for me on a fan fret, but seeing as I never play them in a real situation, not worth considering for me. It is also very light and the difference between it and my Roscoe (solid 5a maple) is extremely noticeable. Different models and woods will make a difference, of course. Although I mostly play the Roscoe at the moment, for 2019 the Dingwall was my go to bass. Love it.

I think the lamb lay down and died on (Ealing) Broadway when it saw that.

The Importance Of Punctuation - revisited

Is this a story of the history of the Shadows or a story of them celebrating a 60 year anniversary? -
No need to apologise, your point is also correct.

Of course but with enough heads involved and with popular songs, Wooten was expecting a much higher take up.

I have not listened to this yet but Victor Wooten held a class for Berkeley students last week and said you can tell how good a bass player you are by how many people recognise the stand alone bass line. This class apparently had several world class players on it and for at least one song, only 25% of the students recognised it! Apparently it was quite a well known song too. You seem to be doing well @lowregisterhead 😀 I was told this by an attendee.

At a guess I suspect he was a contracted session player and therefore probably does not own the copyright in any form; especially in the legally minded US of A

We each have our own experiences, however, I ordered two sets of strings from BassDirect and they arrived two days later. The CD I ordered from Amazon last Sunday is yet to arrive, and that is with Prime membership.

I would suggest too looking at the Darkglass Hyper Luminal. A superb pedal, very easy to operate.

Apparently it plays like BUTTer. A peach of an instrument.

Where are you as a musician? The album playlist thread

No need to put a list together, I am represented by "The Big Blue Book of Bass for Beginners - 10 songs you can play with one note". Less Teen Town, more Dakota. Oddly @adamg67's list above is not too far away from what I would have truly gone for. -
Not so much an f hole but an A.....

I reckon that is the butt of conversation when revealed.

What are you listening to right now?
