Not sure where to post this. Due to Covid 19 and being high risk, I am about to switch to Skype lessons with my bass tutor. The question is would it work to set up Skype to use my Scarlett 2i4 as the input for both mic and bass. The thought being I could play my bass and the tutor will get better sound rather than using the built in Mac computer microphone. If I buy a dedicated vocal mike I could then use the Scarlett at the same time to speak? It seems Skype will only let me use either the mac mic or the scarlett, not both together. If this makes sense, what mic and type would you recommend bearing in mind, I want reasonable quality but will not be recording singing (for the time being)? Is this a reasonable option: Audio-Technica AT2020 Cardioid Condenser Microphone? I have Adam Audio monitors connected to the Scarlett

If you are really feeling brave, try Super Bass - Live at Sculler's. Ray Brown, John Clayton and Christian McBride all on the same album and same tracks in some cases, perhaps a bit much for even me:

Vox Amphones, or alternatives for home practice?
Bobthedog replied to Danny_777's topic in Accessories and Misc
Phil Jones Big Head plus some decent headphones. Does all you need, including plugging in an MP3 player or similar. Phil Jones does matching headphones, but personally am not a fan, although some like them. -
I have known some bass players express an interest in my wife, but I never really regarded it as swing..... ah, misread the title. Sorry

Stuff you bought and never used (but still have it)
Bobthedog replied to leschirons's topic in General Discussion
Will do but that’s my problem, I hate getting rid of stuff. It took me long enough to accept selling a midi keyboard, a year old with approx 1hr of use. -

Ditto 2. and I mean that in both word and product (although I no longer have the Amazon box). Also, all new but only used once to test: MXR Micro Amp M133; MXR Octave; Tascam Bass Trainer; Tascam Portastudio DP-008 (looks really cool!); Source Audio Programmable EQ; Pedal Train Classic pedal board with bag used for one gig. Plus other stuff I cannot remember. I have not listed all the unused cables and picks etc I regard as consumables. I also have a garage with more unused DIY tools than Wickes. Each time something needs doing I buy the special kit but by time I get around to it my wife has gotten someone in to fix / repair / change or build the thing. The worst item is a top level Karcher pressure washer that is unused after a year. It was bought to replace the previous one that seized when I went to use if after being new and unused for 7 years. Still, it is cheaper than having kids. -
Always replace the whole set apart from once with a duff E, still bought a complete set of 5, so now have a spare set of B, A, D and G that will probably not get used. Not unless a get a duff one of each in the future! 🤪

@Bass Guitar Review can you please confirm / advise what exhibitors and/or players have advised they will not now be attending. Further, if none to date, what players are anticipated not to now appear. The Billy Sheehan / Richard Bona news above re their tours does not bode well. Thx

Oscar Peterson Trio + One Ray Brown again. Worth listening to. The + One is Clark Terry, always worth listening to too if you like jazz trumpet.

How to raise cash for a better bass? Is it even possible?

I did not know Vikings wore blue underpants. Well I never! -
I see the Photography Show in Birmingham this coming weekend has just been postponed. I do hope the post above stays true. As a man of a certain age, however, with both heart and lung issues, and borderline diabetic, I will make my own decision re going closer to the day. I am going to take my PJ BigHead / ‘phones and a lead with me to avoid touching too many amps and bits, just not sure what to do about all those fondled guitars. I am sure someone will tell me I am being daft, but it is my call.

Do you think this is home made?
Bobthedog replied to Pea Turgh's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Not so much home made as park bench made in the depths of night during a snow storm whilst wearing ski gloves. -
What's the best class D bass amp head you've used?
Bobthedog replied to thebassist's topic in Amps and Cabs
Glokenklang Blue Rock. 1000w / 4ohms. Remains clean right up to too loud ( never tried above that). -
I cannot help with the tone, but you will probably need at least two portaloos. Sorry!

I did a one off gig last year with a 16 yr old drummer and 61 yr old lead guitar.

I have the Adams and they are very good but I did have to buy the T-10 sub to get the 5th string B to work well. Also Logic X Pro and Scarlett interface. Kali is a new name to me to so will check them out as a comparison.

Some guy droning on on the telephone in an open plan office. FFS shut up. Rant over. -

Long Shot Kick de Bucket - the Pioneers. On the radio. I am working from home today but had to stop to groove with this. Brilliant. -
Happy to wear my hat per my avatar if it will help. Otherwise look for an huge 6ft tall man with a strained face muttering “I must by something, I must buy something”.

Ellen Aim and the Attackers or The Blue Shadows.

TC Unitune for me at home and it is as accurate as my Peterson Strobo Stomp HD (my favourite tuner ever - until the next bass show at least!). I also have the TC Polytune too.
