  1. My P has the bridge cover but no pickup cover. For my playing “style” it just gets in the way. The bass still looks sort of vintage (despite being 2011) but is now, for me, playable.
  2. Hearing my first “Yeah” from my bass tutor when noodling to a blues track.
  3. I tried playing air guitar to a Jean-Michel Jarre album. It turned out to be a waste of oxygene.
  4. I would suggest something like this for that sort of price: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Behringer-UMC22-Computer-Audio-Interface/dp/B00FFIGZF6/ref=sr_1_4?crid=DVMQVIY9H5WD&keywords=behringer+audio+interface&qid=1566140363&s=gateway&sprefix=beer%2Caps%2C139&sr=8-4 Of if you are prepared to throw more at it, the new Scarlett 2i2 or 4i4 will do the trick
  5. Certainly part of it, but also the weight, the fit, the balance and overall build quality was superior too. The AB1 just feels a superior bit of kit.
  6. 6 months ago I would said my Roscoe Century 5 (without looking back, I may well have said so here). Comfort, string spacing, tone and looks all did it for me. When it came to reducing my bass count, the MM Stingray 5HH was the first 5 to go, followed by my Dingwall Combustion 5. Now the response would be my Dingwall AB1 5 with Super Fatty pickups. The tone, oh the tone, weight and looks are, subjectively, the best I have ever played ( I did audition other makes too before taking this one home). Odd but I never gelled with the Combustion.
  7. I have tickets for both days but am still waiting on the announcements previously referred to. If nothing more happens, my tickets will remain unused.. Lots of guitarists are being emailed to me, but still not a plethora of bass players. I have no issue with combining the shows, especially if it means more manufacturers turning up, however, I am still of the feeling that the bass part is now a low priority.
  8. I have no latency issues, in fact I think my fingers cause more latency issues than the wireless unit.
  9. I am a regular gun shot and, amongst the 30-40 shots I shoot with, the vast majority wear full ear defenders with electronic muting rather than ear plugs for the reasons as stated above re noise penetration. I can also state that each of us used different audiologists to come to the same conclusion. Ear defenders are better for us in the field.
  10. I am not a regular gigist but here is a photo of me looking a little upset with the singist / lead guitar
  11. Safe in my garden - Mamas and Papas The Secret Garden - Quincy Jones I build this garden for us - Lenny Kravitz
  12. Dingwall D Roc? https://images.app.goo.gl/Xw6UB1aFnRGiWvcH9
  13. Sadly I was oft described as Michael Ball for a couple of years. Someone even texted me once to say they were watching me on television. Problem since solved by even more doughnuts and pies.
  14. I go for seeing these guys play or listen in to their workshops. The gear is fairly limited, especially if Bass Direct or Dingwall are not going this year (as posted above). There are some good boutique luthiers / equipment guys as as PJB who attend but for the three years I have been going none of the big multinationals such as Fender take a bass stand. Musicman were there one year (IIRC) to launch their neck through kit. Some of the attending trade have also held workshops in the past which are also worth going to.. Don’t get me wrong, I love the show and can make two days of it, but that is thanks to the performances and workshops, not the gear.
