1. Just Jazz Three Gigolos B Flat No Brass Jazzify
2. I am sure ACS specifically do an earplug for motion sickness. Are those the ones you have? Lapponia Ltd certainly do, albeit they are cheap, not custom fit and perhaps do not attenuate to the levels of normal plugs
3. Smooth hound for me too. Why? Because the Smooth Hound thread on this forum is fully people with nothing but praise for it and/or Chris the CEO's level of service. Price is also very good.
4.
Isn't it about time we stopped resurrecting this thread and let it slip quietly into memory....?
Agreed, I support that. Anyone else feel the same?
5. Make sure any dep you ask to step in for you is not a better musician with more band mates than you!
6. I believe the 1000 is actually two times 500. I am not sure what that means in reality but it makes me prefer the 900 which is one time 900.
7. I have just bought an EBS Valvedrive DI. It makes a world of difference to my Glock / BT ll sound. I bought it because it is really easy to use. My only currrent downside is it size. I have yet to try it with my Markbass but then the sound of that is already quite warm.
8. My Fender P and Jazz basses. Since switching to fives, these fours barely get a look in. I won't get rid of them though (well certainly not the P bass). Oh yes, those and my Ditto Looper 2.
9. A wise white haired, and somewhat bearded raggedy old man I met in a monastery in Tibet once said: A bass with strings four: leave bar and close the door A bass with strings five: make music come true alive That could be complete nonsense and perhaps I have never been to Tibet but I play fives
10. I started out with Rockschool but got board of spending my time learning technical stuff by repeated playing and not actually getting gig ready by learning tunes. I wish I had gone with Trinity for the reasons TJ states above.

Compressor

Spectracomp for me too.
12. I do not either. I replace my strings every three months or so; or in the case my recent DR Fatbeams, after a week! (Yeuch! on my Roscoe / BT 2 and Blue Rock combo) I do keep my hands clean and wipe the bass down after each use, however.
13. Pedaltrain Jr for me with a Voodoo Labs Pedal Power 2 Plus power supply. Comfortably take lots of pedals including my ditto looper 2. In all honesty, however, I have become bored with lugging this kit around or even plugging it in at home Having had my must have a pedalboard moment, I now CBA. Clip on tuner and an newly bought EBS Valve Drive DI are my only non guitar / amp / cab items I can be bothered to shift.
14. Whilst many have had no problem at all with schaller locks, I gave up two years ago as the nuts kept loosening themselves. No matter how tight. I also had the same issue you have with very little thread left due to thick straps, however, none actually came off. It became boring very quickly having to worry about them each time I picked up a bass. I am Dunlop now and have had zero issues or fears.
15. Congrats and enjoy! The only "competition" prize i ever won was a box of Maltesers in a raffle and even then there were 20 or so prizes but only 9 sold tickets! I did once "win" in a charity auction, my (then) weight in Galaxy chocolate. You should have seen the looks on the people in my office when 119 kilos of 125gm chocolate bars were delivered. 32 large boxes if memory serves me correctly.
16. When BC member's start dissing you for using a compressor pedal !
17. When at home and still trying to develop my ear, I just slowly run my finger up the E string until I find the note that fits the one chord root. It works for simple stuff.

The final frontier? Or something similar
20.
How about a basschat members calendar 2018? 😀
Just the members or a complete body shot?
21. Try doing a search. There is an extensive thread on this item on BC and all very positive. Any minor issues were superbly dealt withg by Chris the owner. As the above post says you will be fine, just please do a search.
22. Ditto Looper 2 is pretty easy to use and of good quality.
23.
My Bro in Law is a cello teacher. I'm at his house atm. He's got someone coming here shortly for an "audition". What's that? It's where a prospective pupil comes for a chat to see if their aims are likely to be met with the teacher. It's FOC and if works both ways. Does this ever happen in the world of bass?
I have had three auditions (30 mins for free as the first session) for a tutor. One was immediatedly dismissed as not being suitable for me from a personality angle, the other two were fine. Yes it does happen and should happen, even though I have no problem paying for the first session either.
24. I have a tutor, the second one I have had and cannot recommend it highly enough. My first was great at getting me through the first few music grades but was a guitar man, not a bass player and I was only learning by rote. The new guy is a pro bass player (also possibly a member on here) and he has really opened my eyes up to learning about music and understanding what and why things are done. For me that is perfect, I am also really learning at the same time, it makes each Saturday something to look forward to. One other major difference between the two is that the first guy taught but this guy gives me the tools to go and learn by myself - a true tutor.
