I love being a bass player because my fat fingers do not fit on cheese graters. Also because it gives me a focus to concentrate on away from work and is a great stress reliever.

Welcome from another old guy but one who has decided to get younger by the second! Don't use the search function unless you are looking for a specific topic. I would suggest clicking on the Forums tab on the top left of the screen (assuming you are working on the full site, not the mobile version). That will bring up all the forum sections to look through. You can also use the View New Content tab (top right) to show what is being discussed since any previous log in.

[/quote] Personally I think that is an unfair position to put Carl into. If he does not respond positively he will be dammed, if he does, he loses revenue for no reason at all. I would rather pay a higher price for good service than a discounted price for poor service. The fact he responded at all would be enough for me to revisit if I was the OP. After all it was the staff, not the shop that caused the problem.

Hmm, not so good. Age 54 and depending on my headphones: Sennheiser HD600: 9000 Shure SRH 1540: 9500 PJB H-850: 8500 Shure 535 (in ear): 8500 but.... 10500 through my Bose Companion 3 attached to my Mac! I do a lot of shotgun shooting, with sound cancelling headphones for the last few years, but before that with just basic earplugs. That may explain it. Good job I like the bass guitar!

I have a 2013 Stingray 5HH which is my current no 2 goto bass (after my Roscoe). I find it easy to play and whilst not all the sound suits me, there are some tunes where it is just perfect (mainly rock). I was tempted to get rid of last year but each time I pick it up, I remember why I bought it.

That'll get some jaws dropping.

Currently my main base is a 5 whilst I get used to it. If I cannot do the switch successfully I will move back to a 4.

I just contacted Jules re a bass restringing issue (following the recent thread re BC people who can help re bass issues) and he came back very promptly. Due to travel plans we are unable to meet up, but he came back with some really helpful suggestions to look into now. They certainly have helped. A good man indeed. Thank you.

Have you actually tried looking on You Tube? I have just been looking and there are many many video reviews there of the D 800 Subway.

I always look after my gear, but it is there to be used. My new Roscoe is treated the same way as my other guitars. They each leave the house when needed and are played as if any instrument. The only concession to the Roscoe was the purchase of an expensive padded gig bag to carry it about.

I don't have kids, but am married. I have, however, have a 2hr each way commute to and from work. I leave at around 06:30 and am not home much before 20:30 five days a week. I still fit in 30 mins or so practice every night, even though I am permanently shattered. Okay I am not yet gigging so there is no time pressure to learn stuff but I have given up on weekday TV / socialising and would rather have supper, play some bass and bed as my current priorities. Weekends see a bass lesson on Saturday plus an hour playing on Sunday.

Before I picked up an instrument it was always the lyrics, now I am a bass player and still very much learning, I listen out to the bass and drums. The caveat to the above being when I listen to opera or a solo musician, then I listen to the lyrics as they tend (note "tend)) to have some meaning to them.

I am going to change the strings on my Roscoe V to those recommended by Keith Roscoe himself. This the first time I have done the strings myself. If I am putting on different strings, should I reset the saddles to allow for back and forward adjustment to set the intonation? My current B string is way out re intonation with no more adjustment available.

Comfort Strapp and Dunlop strap locks for me. I had Schaller but they kept coming loose. The dunlops give me much more confidence. The Comfort Strapp is superb.

Certainly they never used DRC in the past. I enjoyed the programme although there was nothing new in it for me as a former audiophile.
